Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP) in the Fission Yeast Nucleus
We use fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) to calculate the diffusion coefficient of GFP in the nucleoplasm of fission yeast. The FRAP method can be generally used to measure the mobility of proteins inside the cell or its organelles.

Dynamic L-type CaV1.2 channel trafficking facilitates CaV1.2 clustering and cooperative gating. [PDF]
L-type CaV1.2 channels are key regulators of gene expression, cell excitability and muscle contraction. CaV1.2 channels organize in clusters throughout the plasma membrane.

A pharmacological cocktail for arresting actin dynamics in living cells. [PDF]
The actin cytoskeleton is regulated by factors that influence polymer assembly, disassembly, and network rearrangement. Drugs that inhibit these events have been used to test the role of actin dynamics in a wide range of cellular processes.

Measurement of Junctional Protein Dynamics Using Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP)
Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP) (Lippincott-Schwartz et al., 2003; Reits and Neefjes, 2001) was employed to determine dynamic properties of proteins localized at the ephitelial zonula adherens (ZA) (Kovacs et al., 2011; Otani et al ...

HIV-1 infection is enhanced by cell–cell adhesions between infected and uninfected T cells called virological synapses (VS). VS are initiated by the interactions of cell-surface HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env) and CD4 on target cells and act as sites ...

Live cell imaging reveals focal adhesions mechanoresponses in mammary epithelial cells under sustained equibiaxial stress [PDF]
Mechanical stimuli play a key role in many cell functions such as proliferation, differentiation and migration. In the mammary gland, mechanical signals such as the distension of mammary epithelial cells due to udder filling are proposed to be directly ...

Cells respond to their environment via an intricate cellular signaling network, directing cell fate. Changes in cell fate are characterized by changes in gene transcription, dictated by (master) transcription factor activity.

Length-dependent disassembly maintains four different flagellar lengths in Giardia. [PDF]
With eight flagella of four different lengths, the parasitic protist Giardia is an ideal model to evaluate flagellar assembly and length regulation. To determine how four different flagellar lengths are maintained, we used live-cell quantitative imaging ...
