We first identified functional murine mitochondrial N‐formyl peptides (MT‐FPs) and investigated their effects on the in vitro myeloid‐derived suppressor cell (MDSC) generation from bone marrow cells. We demonstrated that MT‐FPs acted directly on bone marrow cells to promote MDSC generation and modulated the polymorphonuclear (PMN)‐MDSC/monocyte (M ...

The Kitaev model is an exactly-soluble quantum spin model, whose ground state provides a canonical example of a quantum spin liquid. Spin excitations from the ground state are fractionalized into emergent matter fermions and $Z_2$ fluxes.

Magnetic fluxes and moduli stabilization [PDF]
Stabilization of closed string moduli in toroidal orientifold compactifications of type IIB string theory are studied using constant internal magnetic fields on D-branes and 3-form fluxes that preserve N=1 supersymmetry in four dimensions.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Correlations between Abelian Monopoles and center vortices
We study the correlations between center vortices and Abelian monopoles for SU($3$) gauge group. Combining fractional fluxes of monopoles, center vortex fluxes are constructed in the thick center vortex model.

The flux of carbonyl sulfide and carbon disulfide between the atmosphere and a spruce forest [PDF]
Turbulent fluxes of carbonyl sulfide (COS) and carbon disulfide (CS2) were measured over a spruce forest in Central Germany using the relaxed eddy accumulation (REA) technique.

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Calculation of fluxes of charged particles and neutrinos from atmospheric showers
The results on the fluxes of charged particles and neutrinos from a 3-dimensional (3D) simulation of atmospheric showers are presented. An agreement of calculated fluxes with data on charged particles from the AMS and CAPRICE detectors is demonstrated ...
