Flagellins as Vaccine Adjuvants and Cancer Immunotherapy: Recent Advances and Future Prospects

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 176, Issue 3, Page 277-303, November 2025.
The figure depicts the role of flagellin in immune cells. Flagellin interacts with TLR5, resulting in the formation of homodimers and the recruitment of MyD88, which activates the IκB and MAPK signalling pathways. This results in the activation of NF‐κB and AP‐1, producing TNF‐α, IL‐6, IL‐8, and IL‐12.

Epizootiološko istraživanje slinavke i šapa u Sudanu: stanje nakon dva desetljeća [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In order to update information on the situation regarding foot and mouth disease (FMD) in the Sudan, a serosurvey and disease survey were conducted. Recently collected data on FMD in the Sudan showed that FMD is a major constraint to animal production in

Phenotypic mixing and hiding may contribute to memory in viral quasispecies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Background. In a number of recent experiments with food-and-mouth disease virus, a deleterious mutant, was found to avoid extinction and remain in the population for long periods of time. This observation was called quasispecies memory.

Early Growth Response Gene-1 Suppresses Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus Replication by Enhancing Type I Interferon Pathway Signal Transduction

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Early growth response gene-1 (EGR1) is a multifunctional transcription factor that is implicated in viral infection. In this study, we observed that foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) infection significantly triggered EGR1 expression.

Dendrimeric peptides can confer protection against foot-and-mouth disease virus in cattle. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) causes a highly contagious disease in cloven-hoofed animals. A synthetic vaccine candidate consisting of dendrimeric peptides harbouring two copies of a B-epitope [VP1(136-154)] linked to a T-cell epitope [3A(21-35 ...

Age-dependent immune response in pigs against foot-and-mouth disease virus in vitro

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Technology, 2021
Foot-and-mouth disease, one of the most contagious diseases in cloven-hoofed animals, causes significant economic losses. The pathogenesis of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) infection is known to differ with ...

A Bayesian inference framework to reconstruct transmission trees using epidemiological and genetic data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The accurate identification of the route of transmission taken by an infectious agent through a host population is critical to understanding its epidemiology and informing measures for its control. However, reconstruction of transmission routes during an

Foot-and-mouth disease virus O/ME-SA/Ind 2001 lineage outbreak in vaccinated Holstein Friesian cattle in Saudi Arabia in 2016

open access: yesVeterinary Quarterly, 2018
Background: Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) is a highly contagious viral infection of large ruminants. Despite the massive application of vaccines against FMDV, several outbreaks are still being reported in Africa and Asia.
