Dietary Intake of Natural Sources of Docosahexaenoic Acid and Folate in Pregnant Women of Three European Cohorts [PDF]
Background: Folic acid plays a fundamental role in cell division and differentiation. Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) has been associated with infantile neurological and cognitive development.

Although the mechanism of folate intestinal transport has been the subject of intensive studies, very little is known about the molecular identity of the transport system(s) involved. In this investigation, we screened a mouse intestinal cDNA library using as probe the cDNA clone of a reduced folate carrier (RFC1) of mouse leukemia L1210 cells, and ...

When Is a Heme Transporter Not a Heme Transporter? When It's a Folate Transporter [PDF]
Essential nutrients enter the body through a variety of specific transporter molecules expressed in the intestinal epithelium. A recent paper by elegantly demonstrates that one of these transporters, previously thought to carry heme, is in fact an important folate transporter.

Research Progress of Berberine in Kidney Disease: Targeting Mitochondria and Ferroptosis
This figure illustrates the model‐specific renoprotective mechanisms of berberine (BBR) across three major kidney diseases. From left to right, the diagram shows that BBR targets distinct core pathways depending on the pathological context: in diabetic nephropathy (DN), BBR activates AMPK to improve mitochondrial energy metabolism; in acute kidney ...

Dissecting the genetic control of folate homeostasis in plants
Because of its central role in purine and thymidylate biosynthesis, folate-mediated one-carbon metabolism has been the target of many anticancer drug therapies.

Phenotypic and Genotypic Analysis of Two Rare Cases of ‐‐SEA/‐α4.3 HbH Disease
We report two unrelated adult patients with rare deletional HbH disease (genotype ‐‐SEA/‐α4.3). This novel 4.3 kb deletion covering the HBA1 gene is accompanied by X‐Y‐Z segment recombination, which was identified by CycloneSEQ long‐read nanopore sequencing.

Abstract Background Drying is essential for food preservation, yet conventional methods often compromise product quality. This study investigated the effects of cold plasma pretreatment time (0, 15, and 30 s) and an intermittent infrared‐hot air hybrid dryer (300, 600, and 900 W; pulse ratios 1 and 2) on the functional and quality attributes of dried ...
