Real‐World Longitudinal Data on the Impact of Hydroxychloroquine Blood Level Monitoring on Lupus Outcomes: Results of a Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a cornerstone therapy in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but the weight‐based dosing does not account for clinical factors that can introduce individual variability in drug metabolism and clearance. We leveraged longitudinal data from a prospective SLE cohort to identify clinical factors that predict ...

Food formulation: rheological and tribological determinants of oral processing and flavor perception

open access: yesFood Research International
Understanding how food behaves during oral processing requires going beyond its chemical composition to integrate rheological and tribological determinants that shape texture, mouthfeel, and ultimately flavor perception. This review examines how viscosity, microstructure, and flow properties govern aroma release and taste perception across liquid, semi-

Effects of Food and Pharmaceutical Formulation on Desmopressin Pharmacokinetics in Children [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Pharmacokinetics, 2016
Desmopressin is used for treatment of nocturnal enuresis in children. In this study, we investigated the pharmacokinetics of two formulations-a tablet and a lyophilisate-in both fasted and fed children.Previously published data from two studies (one in 22 children aged 6-16 years, and the other in 25 children aged 6-13 years) were analyzed using ...

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Nutritional Quality and In vitro Protein Digestibility of Complementary Foods Formulated from Maize, Cowpea and Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato Flours: A Preliminary Study

open access: yes, 2023
Complementary foods were formulated from blends of maize, cowpea and orange fleshed sweet potatoes (OFSP). Five different blends of flour were formulated with the substitution with cowpea flour at 5-30%, and OFSP substitution at 5-20% while 100% maize ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.
