Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Detection and Molecular Identification of Salmonella Virulence Genes in Livestock Production Systems in South Africa

open access: yesPathogens, 2019
Livestock are an important source of protein and food for humans, however opportunistic pathogens such as Salmonella spp. turn livestock into vehicles of foodborne diseases.

Food-Borne Diseases and Techniques to Detect Food-Borne Pathogens and Their Limitations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advance Research and Innovation, 2016
Food safety is a global health concern. Food is one of the major sources of microbial pathogens in the developing regions. Food borne diseases or infections have increased over a year and ultimately resulted into severe health problems. Different type of food borne infections is detected by different type of microbes or pathogens contaminating the food

Food safety: maximising impact by understanding the food business context [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In Australia there are 5.4 million cases of food-borne illness annually which costs the community $1.2 billion per annum. As a co-regulator in food safety, local government has a significant interest in ensuring adherence to good food safety practices ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Remodeling the gut microbiota: mechanistic insights into probiotic-mediated alleviation of weaning stress in piglets

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Early weaning, characterized by the replacement of maternal milk with solid diets, is widely recognized as one of the most stressful developmental events affecting piglets in intensive production systems.

The impact of food manufacturing practices on food borne diseases

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2008
Food-borne illness is a major international problem and an important cause of reduced economic growth. The contamination of the food supply with the pathogens and its persistence, growth, multiplication and/or toxin production has emerged as an important

Bridging the gap: a genetically validated avian chorioallantoic membrane platform for investigation of spontaneous circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established the avian chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay as a scalable in vivo model for studying circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Human gastrointestinal tumors spontaneously released genetically validated CTCs that were detected across multiple platforms, demonstrating that the CAM model provides an accessible tool for investigating early cancer ...

Research Progress of Fatigue Evaluation and Foodborne Anti-sport Fatigue Components

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
Exercise-induced fatigue can result in physical deprivation, diminished concentration, and decreased work capacity, etc. Food-derived anti-fatigue agents, originating from diverse sources, possess substantial potential to alleviate these effects and hold
