CICLe: Conformal In-Context Learning for Largescale Multi-Class Food Risk Classification [PDF]

open access: yesFindings of the Association for Computational Linguistics: ACL 2024
Contaminated or adulterated food poses a substantial risk to human health. Given sets of labeled web texts for training, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing can be applied to automatically detect such risks. We publish a dataset of 7,546 short texts describing public food recall announcements.

Antimicrobial resistance of Escherichia coli isolated from cattle carcasses and feces in Center of Mexico

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Ciencias Pecuarias, 2020
Escherichia coli is an important microorganism as an intestinal microbiota of animals and humans, so its presence in food serves as an indicator of possible fecal contamination; some strains can cause disease, mainly due to the consumption of water and ...

Optical detection of Aflatoxins B in grained almonds using fluorescence spectroscopy and machine learning algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Aflatoxins are fungal metabolites extensively produced by many different fungal species that may contaminate a wide range of agricultural food products. They have been studied extensively because of being associated with various chronic and acute diseases especially immunosuppression and cancer and their presence in food is strictly monitored and ...

Rational Fine‐Tuning of MOF Pore Metrics: Enhanced SO2 Capture and Sensing with Optimal Multi‐Site Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pore tuning strategy to amplify the multi‐site MOF‐SO2 interactions is proposed to achieve an enhanced trace SO2 capture and chemiresistive sensing in highly stable isostructural DMOFs by annelating benzene rings. This work provides a facile strategy to achieve tailor‐made stable MOF materials for specific multifunctional applications.

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...
