Detection and Typing of a Fowl Adenovirus Type 1 Agent of Pancreatitis in Guinea Fowl
Avian Diseases, 2021Adenoviral pancreatitis has been amply described for decades in guinea fowl. Although its pathologic picture has been characterized fairly well, its etiology still remains only partially clarified. Based on several outbreaks diagnosed on commercial guinea flocks raised in France since 2017, we performed direct whole-genome sequencing from pancreatic ...

Liquid Crystalline DNA in Fowl Adenovirus
Journal of Structural Biology, 1993Fowl adenovirus particles were studied using negative stain electron microscopy. Upon preparation, some particles collapsed and showed their internal structure. The DNA could be observed as thin parallel lines with a spacing of 25 A, very similar to images of the liquid crystalline DNA in bacteriophage heads and in herpes virus.

Evidence of vertical transmission of fowl adenovirus 8b in ducks
Veterinary Microbiology, 2023Fowl adenovirus mainly causes hydropericardium hepatitis syndrome (HHS), inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) and gizzard erosion (GE), etc. In 2015, the first outbreak of HHS was reported in broiler chickens in central China, followed by an outbreak in waterfowl.

AN INSIGHT INTO FOWL ADENOVIRUS INFECTION IN POULTRY
2023Fowl adenoviruses (FAdV) are significant infectious agents infecting wide range of poultry host including parrots, falcons and ostrich having a significant negative economic impact on the global poultry industry. Because FAdV strains are so widely dispersed, the majority of avian species are susceptible to infection. Five species and 12 serotypes (A–E;

Rapid generation of fowl adenovirus 9 vectors
Journal of Virological Methods, 2015Fowl adenoviruses (FAdV) have the largest genomes of any fully sequenced adenovirus genome, and are widely considered as excellent platforms for vaccine development and gene therapy. As such, there is a strong need for stream-lined protocols/strategies for the generation of recombinant adenovirus genomes. Current genome engineering strategies rely upon

Fowl Adenovirus-Based Vaccine Platform
2017Nonpathogenic fowl adenoviruses (FAdVs) are amenable for engineering multivalent vaccine platforms due to large stretches of nonessential DNA sequences in their genomes. We describe the generation of FAdV-9-based vaccine platforms by targeted homologous recombination in an infectious clone (pPacFAdV-9 or wild type FAdmid) containing the entire viral ...

Emerging of a novel natural recombinant fowl adenovirus in China
Transboundary and Emerging Diseases, 2020Outbreaks of hydropericardium syndrome and inclusion body hepatitis caused by fowl adenovirus (FAdV) have occurred in China since June 2015, resulting in significant economic loss to poultry industry. In this study, a novel FAdV, designated as AH720, with recombination among serotype FAdV-8a and FAdV-8b was isolated and characterized in China.

Vaccine, 2014
The number of clinical cases of inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) and hydropericardium-hepatitis syndrome (HHS) has been increasing, resulting in considerable economic losses in many countries. Currently, only fowl Adenovirus (FAdV) serotype 4 (FAdV-4) has been reported as the causative agent of HHS, whereas IBH can be caused by all 12 serotypes of FAdV ...

Immunopathogenesis and physical maps of fowl adenovirus serotype 9
Research in Veterinary Science, 1996Restriction endonuclease maps of the genome of fowl adenovirus (FAV) serotype 9 have been constructed for the restriction endonucleases NdeI, NotI and XbaI. The total size of the FAV-9 genome was estimated to be 44.5 kb pairs, consistent with previous reports that FAV genomes are approximately 10 kb larger than human adenovirus (HAV). The pathogenicity

Sequence Analysis of the Left End of Fowl Adenovirus Genomes
Virus Genes, 2006Nucleotide sequence analysis of the left end of the genome of fowl adenoviruses (FAdV) representing species group C (FAdV-4 and -10), D (FAdV-2) and E (FAdV-8) were carried out, and the sequence data was compared to those of FAdV-1 (FAdV-A) and FAdV-9 (FAdV-D).
