Skp2, the FoxO1 hunter [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Cell, 2005
Skp2 is an oncoprotein that mediates the degradation of several negative regulators of the cell cycle to promote cell proliferation. A recent report by Huang and colleagues reveals that Skp2 directs the ubiquitylation and subsequent degradation of FoxO1, a member of the FoxO family of transcription factors.

FOXO1 overexpression and loss of pSerine256-FOXO1 expression predicts clinical outcome in esophageal adenocarcinomas [PDF]

open access: goldScientific Reports, 2018
AbstractThe function of Forkhead box O 1 (FOXO1) and pSerine256-FOXO1 immunostaining in esophageal cancer is unclear. To clarify the prognostic role of nuclear FOXO1 and cytoplasmic pSerine256-FOXO1 immunostaining, a tissue microarray containing more than 600 esophageal cancers was analyzed.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts derived extracellular vesicles promote angiogenesis of colorectal adenocarcinoma cells through miR-135b-5p/FOXO1 axis

open access: yesCancer Biology & Therapy, 2022
Colorectal adenocarcinoma (COAD) is a prevalent malignant tumor. Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs)-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) (CAFs-EVs) are implicated in COAD treatment. This study explored the mechanism of CAFs-EVs in COAD. CAFs and normal

Kindlin-2 haploinsufficiency protects against fatty liver by targeting Foxo1 in mice

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects a large population with incompletely defined mechanism(s). Here we report that Kindlin-2 is dramatically up-regulated in livers in obese mice and patients with NAFLD.

Pre-treatment with compound Danshen dripping pills prevents lipid infusion-induced microvascular dysfunction in mice

open access: yesPharmaceutical Biology, 2020
Context Recent studies have shown compound Danshen dripping pills (CDDP) could improve microcirculation in ischemic/reperfusion injury and other microvascular disorders. The mechanism for CDDP’s role in microcirculation is not clear. Objective To explore

METTL14 aggravates endothelial inflammation and atherosclerosis by increasing FOXO1 N6-methyladeosine modifications

open access: yesTheranostics, 2020
Aims: The N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification plays an important role in various biological processes, but its role in atherosclerosis remains unknown.

Myeloid FoxO1 depletion attenuates hepatic inflammation and prevents nonalcoholic steatohepatitis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2022
Hepatic inflammation is culpable for the evolution of asymptomatic steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Hepatic inflammation results from abnormal macrophage activation.

Curcumin alleviates oxidative stress and inhibits apoptosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy via Sirt1‐Foxo1 and PI3K‐Akt signalling pathways

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, 2020
Diabetes is a disorder of glucose metabolism, and over 90% are type 2 diabetes. Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is one of the type 2 diabetes complications, usually accompanied by changes in myocardial structure and function, together with cardiomyocyte ...
