Automatic titration of free fatty acids
FFA have been titrated automatically in a single-phase system, obtained by adding isopropanol to nonpolar extracts. Good reproducibility and linearity were obtained in the titration of standard palmitic acid.

Impact of nitrogen regime on fatty acid profiles of Desmodesmus quadricaudatus and Chlorella sp. and ability to produce biofuel [PDF]
Microalgae have emerged as one of the most promising sources for fatty acid production. Since the various fatty acid profiles (chain length, degree of unsaturation, and branching of the chain) of the different sources influence biodiesel fuel properties,

Role of acetate in the reduction of plasma free fatty acids produced by ethanol in man
To investigate the mechanism by which ethanol lowers plasma free fatty acids, we tested the ability of two products of alcohol metabolism, acetate and lactate, to lower free fatty acids in man.

Detection of free fatty acid in crude palm oil [PDF]
Palm oil quality and price is dependent on the free fatty acids (FFA) content in palm oil. High content of free fatty acids in palm oil affect the quality of palm oil and leads to various health and environmental issues.

A single extracellular amino acid in Free Fatty Acid Receptor 2 defines antagonist species selectivity and G protein selection bias [PDF]
Free Fatty Acid Receptor 2 is a GPCR activated by short chain fatty acids produced in high levels in the lower gut by microbial fermentation of non-digestible carbohydrates.

Treatment of type 2 diabetes by free fatty acid receptor agonists [PDF]
Dietary free fatty acids (FFAs), such as ω-3 fatty acids, regulate metabolic and anti-inflammatory processes, with many of these effects attributed to FFAs interacting with a family of G protein-coupled receptors.

High carbohydrate diets enhance the hepatic output of very low density lipoprotein triglycerides. The fatty acids of these triglycerides could come from exogenous sources (i.e., diet or adipose tissue) or from de novo fatty acid synthesis in the liver ...

Free Fatty Acids and Free Fatty Acid Receptors: Role in Regulating Arterial Function. [PDF]
The metabolic network’s primary sources of free fatty acids (FFAs) are long- and medium-chain fatty acids of triglyceride origin and short-chain fatty acids produced by intestinal microorganisms through dietary fibre fermentation. Recent studies have demonstrated that FFAs not only serve as an energy source for the body’s metabolism but also ...
