Adding ROS Scavengers to Cold K\u3csup\u3e+\u3c/sup\u3e Cardioplegia Reduces Superoxide Emission During 2 h Global Cold Cardiac Ischemia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We reported that the combination of reactive oxygen species (ROS) quenchers Mn(III) tetrakis (4-benzoic acid) porphyrin (MnTBAP), catalase, and glutathione (MCG) given before 2 hours cold ischemia better protected cardiac mitochondria against cold ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Activity of Mn(II)-Morin Complex

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Analytical & Environmental Chemistry, 2016
The article illustrates about the synthesis of Mn(II)-Morin complex in methanol solvent. The characterization of the complex was carried out using UV-visible, IR, 1H NMR spectroscopic techniques and thermal (i.e. TGA, DSC) techniques.

Simple isatin derivatives as free radical scavengers: Synthesis, biological evaluation and structure-activity relationship

open access: yesChemistry Central Journal, 2011
To develop more potent small molecules with enhanced free radical scavenger properties, a series of N-substituted isatin derivatives was synthesized, and the cytoprotective effect on the apoptosis of PC12 cells induced by H2O2 was screened.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Investigation of metal–flavonoid chelates and the determination of flavonoids via metal–flavonoid complexing reactions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2007
Flavonoids constitute a large group of polyphenolic phytochemicals with antioxidant properties which are overwhelmingly exerted through direct free radical scavenging.

Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

The Promising Free Radical Scavenging Activity of Some Fabaceae Flowers

open access: yesMajalah Obat Tradisional
Oxidative stress caused by free radicals is a key contributor to the development of chronic diseases. As a natural defense strategy, the identification of plant-based free radical scavengers has become increasingly important.

Correlation of serum IgE with stress in Indian dromedaries affected with skin wounds [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Stress Physiology & Biochemistry, 2010
The present investigation was planned to explore stress induced changes in the levels of IgE by correlating them with the important parameters of stress like cortisol and free radical scavengers in the serum of Indian dromedaries.
