Archaeal Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate Aldolases Constitute a New Family of Archaeal Type Class I Aldolase [PDF]
Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate (FBP) aldolase activity has been detected previously in several Archaea. However, no obvious orthologs of the bacterial and eucaryal Class I and II FBP aldolases have yet been identified in sequenced archaeal genomes. Based on a recently described novel type of bacterial aldolase, we report on the identification and molecular ...

We investigated the roles of PKM2, PKM1, and LDHA in retinal metabolism and structural integrity. In the normal retina, these enzymes are maintained at defined levels that support photoreceptor function. Rod‐specific deletion of LDHA, alone or with PKM2, caused age‐dependent degeneration, as PKM1 induction did not reach levels comparable to PKM2.

Post‐Translational Regulation of CD8+ T Cell Fate and Dysfunction in Tumor Immunity
This review delineates how post‐translational modifications (PTMs) function as a central regulatory interface governing CD8+ T cell activation, differentiation, persistence, and exhaustion in antitumor immunity. By integrating antigenic, metabolic, and microenvironmental cues, diverse PTM programs coordinate transcriptional and chromatin states that ...

Escherichia coli B2 strains prevalent in inflammatory bowel disease patients have distinct metabolic capabilities that enable colonization of intestinal mucosa [PDF]
Background Escherichia coli is considered a leading bacterial trigger of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). E. coli isolates from IBD patients primarily belong to phylogroup B2.

A hepatic‐differentiated subpopulation is associated with lymphovascular invasion in clear cell renal cell carcinoma. A visual summary of the key findings from our multi‐omics analysis. The TITANIA framework enabled the identification of a hepatic‐differentiated ccRCC subpopulation characterized by the upregulation of liver‐like metabolic pathways and ...

The return of metabolism: biochemistry and physiology of glycolysis
ABSTRACT Glycolysis is a fundamental metabolic pathway central to the bioenergetics and physiology of virtually all living organisms. In this comprehensive review, we explore the intricate biochemical principles and evolutionary origins of glycolytic pathways, from the classical Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP) pathway in humans to various prokaryotic and ...

The metabolic significance of octulose phosphates in the photosynthetic carbon reduction cycle in spinach [PDF]
14C-Labelled octulose phosphates were formed during photosynthetic14CO2 fixation and were measured in spinach leaves and chloroplasts. Because mono- and bisphosphates of d-glycero- d-ido-octulose are the active 8-carbon ketosugar intermediates of the L ...

Structure of a rabbit muscle fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase A dimer variant [PDF]
Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase (aldolase) is an essential enzyme in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. In addition to this primary function, aldolase is also known to bind to a variety of other proteins, a property that may allow it to perform 'moonlighting' roles in the cell.
