Design of FSMA spring actuators
SPIE Proceedings, 2004A new spring actuator composing of two parts: driving unit and ferromagnetic shape memory alloy (FSMA) spring, is designed based on hybrid actuation mechanism. The driving unit, which is based on hybrid magnet, consists of coil, yoke, and ring shape permanent magnet (PM); the FSMA spring can be either composite material, which is made of shape memory ...

Effect of Annealing on Elastic Moduli of a FSMA
Shape Memory and Superelasticity, 2017Ferromagnetic shape memory alloys (FSMA) are both ferromagnetic as well as have structural transformations from austenite to martensite and back. These structural transformations are generally studied through resistivity, magnetisation, etc. It is also known that annealing improves the physical properties of the FSMA systems.

Effective magnetic properties of Fe-NiTi (FSMA) particulate composite
SPIE Proceedings, 2005Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloy (FSMA) particulate composites are processed using Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) with various weight fractions of NiTi (51 at% Ni) and Fe powders. The magnetic properties of these composite specimens were experimentally evaluated using Vibration Sample Magnetometry (VSM).

Design of a new FSMA-based actuator for nanopositioning applications
Proceedings of SPIE, 2012Ferromagnetic shape memory alloys (FSMAs) are a special type of smart materials which can commonly display strains of about 6 % by applying an external magnetic field. The large magnetic induced strain and the possibility of non-contact actuation make those materials promising active elements for actuators.
