Association of fatty acid-binding protein 2 and fat mass and obesity-associated gene polymorphism with primary open-angle glaucoma

open access: yesTaiwan Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Purpose: The present study was carried out to investigate the association of fatty acid-binding protein 2 (FABP2) and fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene polymorphism with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) cases and controls.

WTAP‐Mediated m6A Modification of TXNDC5 mRNA Promotes Cervical Carcinogenesis

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT WT1‐associated protein (WTAP), a core component of the methyltransferase complex, is involved in various tumor pathological processes, but its specific mechanism in cervical cancer (CC) remains unclear. This study, based on single‐cell transcriptomic data (including 3 CC and 2 normal tissues), constructed a CC microenvironment cell atlas ...

Hypothalamic FTO is associated with the regulation of energy intake not feeding reward

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2009
Background Polymorphism in the FTO gene is strongly associated with obesity, but little is known about the molecular bases of this relationship. We investigated whether hypothalamic FTO is involved in energy-dependent overconsumption of food.

KMT5C‐Mediated H4K20me3 Recruits EWSR1 to Propel Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma Progression via Regulating ACADM Transcription and m6A Modification

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
A schematic diagram illustrating the KMT5C‐H4K20me3‐EWSR1‐ACADM signaling axis and its role in ccRCC progression. Key Outcomes: KMT5C/H4K20me3 are upregulated in ccRCC and predict poor prognosis. EWSR1 is a novel noncanonical H4K20me3 reader in ccRCC. KMT5C/EWSR1 co‐repress ACADM via transcription and m6A modification. A‐196 + sunitinib synergistically

Expression Studies of the Obesity Candidate GeneFTOin Pig

open access: yesAnimal Biotechnology, 2009
Obesity is an increasing problem worldwide and research on candidate genes in good animal models is highly needed. The pig is an excellent model as its metabolism, organ size, and eating habits resemble that of humans. The present study is focused on the characterization of the fat mass and obesity associated gene (FTO) in pig.

Therapeutic Properties and Underlying Mechanisms of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Managing Rheumatoid Arthritis: An Integrative Review of Clinical and Molecular Findings

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
The translational research framework integrating TCM for RA. The figure outlines a stepwise framework for the modernization and clinical translation of TCM in RA. Part 1 highlights the inheritance and development of TCM theory, including classical medical texts, traditional herbal knowledge, and syndrome differentiation–based treatment principles. Part

Association Between FTO rs1558902 Polymorphism, Age‐Related Hypogonadism, and Central Obesity in Japanese Men

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Obesity and low testosterone levels are closely interconnected, with the FTO gene being the most robust genetic determinant of body mass index (BMI). However, whether this primary genetic driver of obesity directly influences the hypothalamic‐pituitary‐testicular (HPT) axis remains unclear.

The relationship between fat mass and obesity-associated gene polymorphism and obesity among children in China: A systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Noncommunicable Diseases, 2019
The fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene has been shown to be associated with obesity in different populations. However, this association in the Chinese population has been controversial.

Tumor‐Derived Exosomal piR‐hsa‐28212 Promotes Lymphatic Metastasis in Breast Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Breast cancer–derived exosomal piR‐hsa‐28212 promotes lymphangiogenesis and lymph node metastasis by activating VEGFC/VEGFR3 signaling. It stabilizes TBX1 mRNA in lymphatic endothelial cells and METTL3 protein in tumor cells, enhancing VEGFR3 expression and VEGFC secretion.
