Anti-enterovirus 71 activity of native fucosylated chondroitin sulfates and their derivatives
Carbohydrate PolymersEnterovirus 71 (EV71) is recognized as a major causative agent of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD), posing a significant global public health concern due to its widespread impact and resulting in a major public health issue worldwide. Despite its prevalence, current clinical therapy lacks effective antiviral agents. Fucosylated chondroitin sulfates

In this study, a new fucosylated chondroitin sulfate (HsG) with an average molecular weight of 69.1 kDa was isolated from sea cucumber Holothuria scabra. We investigated the structure of the HsG by adopting monosaccharide composition analysis, disaccharide composition analysis, IR,1H and13C NMR spectra and methylation analysis. According to methylation

The structure of a fucosylated chondroitin sulfate from the sea cucumber Cucumaria frondosa
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2017A fucosylated chondroitin sulfate (FCS) CF was isolated from the sea cucumber Cucumaria frondosa and purified by anion-exchange chromatography. Chemical and NMR spectroscopic methods were applied for the structural characterization of this biopolymer. The backbone of CF was found to consist of chondroitin sulfate A and E fragments together with rather ...

Partially depolymerized holothurian glycosaminoglycan (DHG), a fucosyl chondroitin sulfate chains isolated from sea cucumber, was administered by the intravenous and oral routes to experimental animal. After intravenous injection, clearance of DHG, as measured by the postcolumn HPLC, displayed complex kinetics that were not dose dependent.

AbstractFucosylated chondroitin sulfate (FuCS) is a structurally distinct glycosaminoglycan with excellent anticoagulant activity. Studies show that FuCS and its depolymerized fragments exhibit a different anticoagulant mechanism from that of heparin derivatives, with decreased risks of adverse effects and bleeding.

This study aimed at investigating the chain conformation and physicochemical properties of fucosylated chondroitin sulfate extracted from sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicas (Aj-fCS). By using HPSEC-MALLS-Visc-RI, Mw, z(1/2), Rh and [η] for Aj-fCS were determined as 58.0±4.4kDa, 21.8±1.3nm, 12.5±1.3nm and 27.8±0.5mL/g respectively.

A method for depolymerization of a novel fucosylated chondroitin sulfate from Pearsonothuria graeffei (fCS-Pg) using (60)Co irradiation in water solution was developed in the current study. Fragments with varying molecular weights were obtained by (60)Co irradiation at different dosages and sample concentrations.
