A Novel Lensless Miniature Contact Imaging System for Monitoring Calcium Changes in Live Neurons
Here, we report on the design, fabrication, and verification of a novel CMOS-imager-based contact imaging system. We acquired fluorescent images from live neurons by monitoring calcium changes with Fura-2 dye.

Caulerpenyne Affects Bradykinin-Induced Intracellular Calcium Kinetics in LoVo Cells
Sesquiterpene caulerpenyne (CYN) is the major metabolite present in green macroalgae Caulerpa taxifolia. This metabolite has been shown to be cytotoxic in some cell lines and was found to be active in various assays of pharmacological interest.

Calcium Imaging of Cortical Neurons using Fura-2 AM [PDF]
Calcium imaging is a common technique that is useful for measuring calcium signals in cultured cells. Calcium imaging techniques take advantage of calcium indicator dyes, which are BAPTA-based organic molecules that change their spectral properties in response to the binding of Ca2+ ions.

Cytotoxicity-related effects of imidazolium and chlorinated bispyridinium oximes in SH-SY5Y cells
Current research has shown that several imidazolium and chlorinated bispyridinium oximes are cytotoxic and activate different mechanisms or types of cell death.

Previously, we have found that intracellular calcium homeostasis is altered in platelets from an experimental model of liver cirrhosis, the bile-duct ligated (BDL) rat; these alterations are compatible with the existence of a hypercoagulable state and ...

Altered calcium signaling in platelets from nitric oxide-deficient hypertensive rats
Background In the present study we have analyzed the mechanisms of calcium entry and mobilization in platelets obtained from rats chronically treated with the nitric oxide synthesis inhibitor, N-nitro L-arginine methyl ester [L-NAME, 40 mg/kg/day, 5 days)

Excitation-contraction coupling in intact frog skeletal muscle fibers injected with mmolar concentrations of fura-2 [PDF]
Experiments were carried out to test the hypothesis that mM concentrations of fura-2, a high-affinity Ca2+ buffer, inhibit the release of Ca2+ from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) of skeletal muscle fibers.
