Determination of phototoxic furanocoumarins in natural cosmetics using SPE with LC-MS
Analytica Chimica Acta, 2020Furanocoumarins are a class of naturally occurring phototoxic substances widely spread throughout the Umbelliferae and Rutacea families of plants. Plant extract of these families (e.g.

Furanocoumarins from Dorstenia gigas
Phytochemistry, 2001A series of linear and angular prenylated furanocoumarins and a benzofuran derivative were isolated from leaves and twigs of Dorstenia gigas (Moraceae), a plant occurring endemically on Socotra Island (Yemen). The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods (NMR, MS, UV) and chemical derivatization.

Evaluation of photocytotoxicity liposomal form of furanocoumarins Sosnowsky's hogweed.
Chemico-Biological Interactions, 2022Sosnovsky's hogweed, Heracleum sosnowskyi has a high photosensitizing ability. Although Sosnovsky's hogweed is known as a poisonous plant, its chemical composition and phototoxicity are poorly studied.

Furanocoumarins with affinity to brain benzodiazepine receptors in vitro
Eight furanocoumarins were isolated from a methanol extract of dried roots of Angelica dahurica. One of these, phellopterin, strongly (IC50 = 0.36 microM) inhibits the binding of [3H]diazepam to central nervous system benzodiazepine receptors in vitro ...

Biosynthesis of linear furanocoumarins
Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1970Labelling experiments with 14C and 3H have shown that linear furanocoumarins of Ammi majus, Angelica archangelica, Heracleum lanatum (Umbelliferae), and Ruta graveolens (Rutaceae) are formed from umbelliferone via the dihydrofuranocoumarin, marmesin.
