Furan represent a class of compounds that have been reported in a wide variety of foods. Normally, they result from thermal decomposition reactions, and, as such, are important in foods. They also possess unique sensory properties and, thus, can significantly contribute to food flavor.

International audience ; Polymer networks derived from furan monomers are discussed, with particular emphasis on recent contributions. Resins based on furfural and furfuryl alcohol represent the most important family within this context, but other materials are becoming relevant, such as polyurethane foams, various photo-curable macromolecules bearing ...

Determination of furan and furan derivatives in baby food
Food Chemistry, 2018A Headspace-Solid Phase Microextraction-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of furan, 2-methylfuran, 2-ethylfuran, 2-butylfuran, 2-pentylfuran, 2-acetylfuran, furfural and furfuryl alcohol in jarred baby food. The method was specific for the analytes.

Chapter 6 Furans and benzo[b]furans
2007Publisher Summary Furan-containing molecules are found in both natural products and pharmaceuticals. At one time, furfural was produced in great quantities from corncobs. Perillene, a secondary plant metabolite, is an example of naturally occurring furan. Furan is frequently used as a bioisostere of a benzene ring in medicinal chemistry. Furan is a π-
