Interaction between glycolysis‒cholesterol synthesis axis and tumor microenvironment reveal that gamma-glutamyl hydrolase suppresses glycolysis in colon cancer [PDF]

open access: goldFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
BackgroundMetabolic reprogramming is a feature of cancer. However, colon cancer subtypes based on the glycolysis‒cholesterol synthesis axis have not been identified, and little is known about connections between metabolic features and the tumor ...

Elevated Expression of Gamma-Glutamyl Hydrolase Is Associated With Poor Prognosis and Altered Immune Signature in Uterine Corpus Endometrial Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: goldFrontiers in Genetics, 2022
Uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC) is a common malignant tumor of the female reproductive system with poor prognosis in advanced, recurrent, and metastatic cases.

Genetic variation in folylpolyglutamate synthase and gamma-glutamyl hydrolase and plasma homocysteine levels in the Singapore Chinese Health Study. [PDF]

open access: greenMol Genet Metab, 2012
The enzymes folylpolyglutamate synthase (FPGS) and gamma-glutamyl hydrolase (GGH) are essential for determining intracellular folate availability for one-carbon metabolism (OCM) pathways. FPGS adds glutamyl groups to the folate molecule, thereby converting folate into the preferred substrate for several enzymes in OCM pathways.

Interethnic differences in single and haplotype structures of folylpolyglutamate synthase and gamma-glutamyl hydrolase variants and their influence on disease susceptibility to acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the Indian population: An exploratory study [PDF]

open access: diamondIndian Journal of Medical and Paediatric Oncology, 2018
Aim: We aim to establish the genotype and haplotype frequencies of folylpolyglutamate synthase (FPGS rs10106 and rs1544105) and gamma-glutamyl hydrolase (GGH rs3758149 and rs11545078) variants in the South Indian population (SI) and to study the ...

The GGH/HuR Complex Binds and Stabilizes mRNAs to Maintain Tumor Cell Cycle and DNA Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science
GGH (Gamma‐glutamyl hydrolase) is a folate metabolism enzyme that hydrolyzes intracellular polyglutamylated folates and is highly expressed in various cancers. It remains unclear whether GGH functions as an oncogene and its underlying mechanisms in tumor

Crystal structure of plant γ-glutamyl peptidase 1: implications for sulfur metabolism and secondary metabolite biosynthesis. [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS J
The crystal structures of Arabidopsis thaliana γ‐glutamyl peptidase 1 (GGP1), including the covalent intermediate state, were determined. GGP1 is involved in both glutathione degradation in the primary metabolism and glutathione conjugate processing in the secondary metabolism of glucosinolate and camalexin biosynthesis.

Transsulfuration pathway thiols and methylated arginines: the hunter community study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Background: Serum homocysteine, when studied singly, has been reported to be positively associated both with the endogenous nitric oxide synthase inhibitor asymmetric dimethylarginine [ADMA, via inhibition of dimethylarginine dimethylaminohydrolase ...
