Double‐Interpenetrating Composite Bioink for Multi‐Component 3D Bioprinting and Biofabrication

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine‐polysaccharides‐derived double interpenetrating network hydrogel‐based bioink, combining the attributes of physical and ionic crosslinking, enables room‐temperature bioprinting of mechanically defined structures that can be handled and are cytocompatible.

Gamma Delta (γδ) T Cells and Their Involvement in Behçet’s Disease

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2015
Behçet’s disease (BD) is a multisystem inflammatory disorder characterized by orogenital ulcerations, ocular manifestations, arthritis, and vasculitis. The disease follows a relapsing-remitting course and its pathogenesis is unknown.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

High Interferon-γ Uniquely in Vδ1 T Cells Correlates with Markers of Inflammation and Axonal Damage in Early Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2017
We have identified a population of T lymphocytes in peripheral blood, Vδ1 TCRγδ T lymphocytes, which unexpectedly was uniquely expressing high production of interferon-γ in newly diagnosed, untreated multiple sclerosis (MS) patients.

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Photothermal‐Activated Antibacterial Amyloid‐Polyphenol‐Iron Hydrogels for Synergistic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We report a thermally triggered supramolecular hydrogel (LTFe) formed by Fe3+ and tannic acid on lysozyme amyloid fibrils. Fe3+ enables rapid gelation and photothermal transduction with an efficiency of 88.56%. The LTFe hydrogel exhibits excellent biocompatibility, potent antibacterial activity against E. coli and S.

Stepwise On‐Surface Synthesis and Transformations of Two‐Dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks by Controlled Thermal Stimuli

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The seminal transformation of a 2D‐COF (SURFCOF‐IMDEA1) into a 2D porous COF (SURFCOF‐IMDEA2) on Au(111) by a sequential C‐C coupling and ladderization triggered by thermal annealing steps at increasing temperatures is reported. Abstract The development of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is currently a primary objective in materials science, taking ...

Key players of immunosuppression in epithelial malignancies: Tumor‐infiltrating myeloid cells and γδ T cells

open access: yesCancer Reports
Background The tumor microenvironment of solid tumors governs the differentiation of otherwise non‐immunosuppressive macrophages and gamma delta (γδ) T cells into strong immunosuppressors while promoting suppressive abilities of known immunosuppressors ...
