The novel dual glucose‐dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonist tirzepatide transiently delays gastric emptying similarly to selective long‐acting GLP‐1 receptor agonists

open access: yesDiabetes, obesity and metabolism, 2020
The effect of dual glucose‐dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonist (RA) tirzepatide on gastric emptying (GE) was compared to that of GLP‐1RAs in non‐clinical and clinical studies.

GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists and Endoscopy: Understanding Gastric Stasis, Aspiration Risk, and Contemporary Peri‐Procedural Guidance

open access: yesChronic Diseases and Translational Medicine, EarlyView.
Pharmacological mechanisms and physiologic effects of GLP‐1 receptor agonists relevant to peri‐endoscopic risk. ABSTRACT The global increase in obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has led to a higher use of glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1RAs) among patients ...

Gastric inhibitory polypeptide release from a tumor-derived cell line

open access: yes, 1995
A cell line derived from intestinal tumors of transgenic mice (STC-1) was subcloned to produce a stable line with approximately 30% immunoreactive gastric inhibitory polypeptide (irGIP)-containing cells (STC 6-14). High-performance liquid chromatography

Payload‐Based Clinical Pharmacology Review of Approved Antibody–Drug Conjugates: Commonalities and Considerations for Streamlined Development

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) combine the specificity of an antibody with the potency of a cytotoxic drug. Thirteen ADCs, utilizing seven unique cytotoxic payloads and targeting 11 distinct antigens, are currently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration as of June 2025, representing a rapidly growing and highly promising class of anticancer ...

Gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) concentration in human amniotic fluid.

open access: yes, 1985
Several studies report that placenta and amniotic fluid (AF) may be a source of many peptide hormones. Although the presence of gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) in amniotic fluid has not been described, it is present in the fetal gut.

Identification of a Functional CYP2C8 Variant Allele that Alters Splicing, Reduces Protein Expression, and Increases Drug Exposure

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
This study investigated genetic determinants of the pharmacokinetics of the CYP2C8 index drugs repaglinide and gemfibrozil, and their interaction in healthy participants. Sequencing data from a study with montelukast revealed a novel functional CYP2C8 allele (rs2071426, CYP2C8*19), predicted to create an intronic splice donor site.

Interaction of gastric inhibitory polypeptide and arginine with glucose in the perfused pancreas of rats treated with triiodothyronine

open access: yes, 1982
Chronic treatment of rats with triiodothyronine (T3) resulted in suppression of insulin release from the isolated pancreas when perfused with 8.6 mM glucose.

Clinical Characterization of Enzyme and Transporter Precipitants to Evaluate Drug–Drug Interactions for Orforglipron, a Small Molecule Glucagon‐Like Peptide‐1 Receptor Agonist

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Orforglipron is an orally administered, small‐molecule glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonist in clinical development for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. Orforglipron is a substrate of CYP3A4, organic anion transporting polypeptides (OATPs) 1B/1B3, and P‐glycoprotein (P‐gp); however, precipitants commonly used to define these mechanisms

Finerenone attenuates downregulation of the kidney GLP-1 receptor and glucagon receptor and cardiac GIP receptor in mice with comorbid diabetes

open access: yesDiabetology & Metabolic Syndrome
Background Several new treatments have recently been shown to have heart and kidney protective benefits in people with diabetes. Because these treatments were developed in parallel, it is unclear how the different molecular pathways affected by the ...

Genome-wide interaction study with body mass index identifies and as genetic modulators of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Molecular Hepatology
Background/Aims Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) may progress to liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. So far, genome-wide association studies explain a small fraction of MASLD heritability.
