Electroencephalography‐Based Clustering Reveals Robust Neurophysiological Subtypes in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Parkinson's disease (PD) is clinically heterogeneous, with substantial variability in motor and cognitive features. Conventional clinical scales provide limited insight into underlying neural mechanisms and show poor longitudinal stability.

The GBA1 p.E427K (p.E388K) Variant Is a Risk Factor for Synucleinopathies: A Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Variants in GBA1 are important genetic risk factors for synucleinopathies, including Parkinson's disease (PD). Although several GBA1 variants are established risk or severity modifiers, the role of the p.E427K variant remains unclear.

Synaptic vesicle endocytosis deficits underlie cognitive dysfunction in mouse models of GBA-linked Parkinson’s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies

open access: yesNature Communications
GBA is the major risk gene for Parkinson’s disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), two common α-synucleinopathies with cognitive deficits. Here we investigate the role of mutant GBA in cognitive decline by utilizing Gba (L444P) mutant, SNCA ...

More pumas (Puma concolor) does not change perceptions: The mismatched response of ranchers to the presence of a top carnivore

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Human‐wildlife conflicts (HWCs) are one of the most critical conservation challenges worldwide. Large carnivores are frequently at the centre of these conflicts because of the perceived and real threats they pose to livestock and human safety.

Gene turnover in the common ancestor of all C4 grasses

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Understanding how plants evolve more efficient photosynthesis is important in a warming world where improving crop productivity and resilience is a global priority. By generating the first reference genomes for an early‐diverging group of grasses called the Aristidoideae, we were able to reconstruct the genetic makeup of the last common ancestor of all

Pro‐197 mutations confer resistance to thiencarbazone but not to foramsulfuron in ALS‐resistant Poa annua populations

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Foramsulfuron remains effective on Pro‐197 Poa annua, but co‐formulation with thiencarbazone reduces efficacy due to limited activity and antagonism. Therefore, foramsulfuron + thiencarbazone should be used in fields without ALS‐resistant weeds to ensure effective in‐crop control.

Comparative analysis of methods for measuring glucocerebrosidase enzyme activity in patients with Parkinson’s disease with the GBA1 variant

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
IntroductionGBA1 variants are significant genetic risk factors for Parkinson’s disease (PD). Accurately measuring glucocerebrosidase (GCase) activity is crucial for understanding disease progression and developing targeted therapies.

A latent class analysis of clinical complexity: Secondary analysis of the collaboration leading to addiction treatment and recovery from other stresses (CLARO) randomized trial

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) frequently present with co‐occurring mental health conditions such as depression and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), along with other mental health substance use disorders, physical health conditions and social determinants that together comprise ‘clinical complexity ...

Macau as Method: Recombinant Urbanism in Post‐Socialist China

open access: yesAsia Pacific Viewpoint, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In ‘Asia as Method’, Chen Kuan‐Hsing argues for the value of an indigenous inter‐Asian approach to analysing the effects of European imperialism on the countries and citizens of Asia. This article mobilises both Chen's inter‐Asian referencing strategy and the city‐state of Macau to explore Macau's role in China's engagements with global ...
