Utility of Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS) Reforecast for Medium-Range Drought Prediction in India

open access: yes, 2016
Medium-range (~7 days) forecasts of agricultural and hydrologic droughts can help in decision-making in agriculture and water resources management. India has witnessed severe losses due to extreme weather events during recent years and medium-range ...

SCN1A mutations in focal epilepsy with auditory features: widening the spectrum of GEFS plus

open access: yes, 2019
Epilepsy with auditory features (EAF) is a focal epilepsy syndrome characterized by prominent auditory ictal manifestations. Two main genes, LGI1 and RELN, have been implicated in EAF, but the genetic aetiology remains unknown in half of families and ...

Testing the Assumption That Tiger Population Recovery Increases Conflict Across Their Range

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Tiger population recovery is widely assumed to increase conflict with people, yet this assumption has rarely been examined using range‐wide evidence. Analysing data from ten tiger range countries between 2010 and 2025, we found no consistent evidence that tiger population recovery is associated with increased conflict incidents.

Estimating of heavy metal concentration in agricultural soils from hyperspectral satellite sensor imagery: Considering the sources and migration pathways of pollutants

open access: yesEcological Indicators
The evolution of hyperspectral remote sensing and artificial intelligence technologies has led to a surge in their application for predicting Soil Heavy Metal Concentrations (SHMC).

Targeting KRAS for cancer therapy

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
In recent years, therapeutics targeted against KRAS proto‐oncogene GTPase (KRAS)‐mutant cancers have seen significant progress. Herein we outline the biology and epidemiology of KRAS alterations at the lineage and allele levels, reviewing the clinical evidence for KRASG12C inhibition from the discovery of the recessive switch pocket to sotorasib ...

Thermodynamic characterisation of covalent ligand binding

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF) is a common and straightforward method to evaluate the thermal stability of proteins and has been heavily used for ligand binding characterisation as well as for screening. One class of compounds that is less typically evaluated by DSF are covalent binders.

Increased excitability of layer 5 neocortical pyramidal neurons and its contribution to seizure activity in Gabrg2 gene-deficient mice

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Gabrg2fl/wtCre+ (CKO) mice are one of the models for studying “genetic epilepsy with febrile seizures plus (GEFS+).” A previous study revealed increased cortical excitability in CKO mice subjected to hyperthermia (CKO-heat mice), but the ...
