Sterol gene expression in Arabidopsis [PDF]
Sterols are recognized as playing vital roles in plant development, as has been demonstrated from mutational studies. The study of the hydra mutants of Arabidopsis provides new tools to dissect sterol function in development at the molecular genetic ...

Differential gene expression in nearly isogenic lines with QTL for partial resistance to
Background The barley-Puccinia hordei (barley leaf rust) pathosystem is a model for investigating partial disease resistance in crop plants and genetic mapping of phenotypic resistance has identified several quantitative trait loci (QTL) for partial ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Plant Glutathione Transferases and Light
The activity and expression of glutathione transferases (GSTs) depend on several less-known endogenous and well-described exogenous factors, such as the developmental stage, presence, and intensity of different stressors, as well as on the absence or ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Plant MicroRNAs in Cross-Kingdom Regulation of Gene Expression [PDF]
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of noncoding small RNAs, which play a crucial role in post-transcriptional gene regulation. Recently, various reports revealed that miRNAs could be transmitted between species to mediate cross-kingdom regulation by integrating into a specific target gene-mediated regulatory pathway to exert relevant biological functions ...

Reduced expression of the SHORT-ROOT gene increases the rates of growth and development in hybrid Poplar and Arabidosis [PDF]
SHORT-ROOT (SHR) is a well characterized regulator of cell division and cell fate determination in the Arabidopsis primary root. However, much less is known about the functions of SHR in the aerial parts of the plant.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Regulation of plant gene expression by tsRNAs in response to abiotic stress [PDF]
Objective Transfer RNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) are emerging regulators of gene expression in response to abiotic stress. This review aims to summarize recent advances in the classification, biogenesis, and biological functions of tsRNAs, with a focus

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
