Zonated Copper‐Driven Breast Cancer Progression Countered by a Copper‐Depleting Nanoagent for Immune and Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spatially resolved multiomics reveals that high‐copper zones are closely associated with tumor metastasis, immune‐desert phenotypes, and oxidative‐phosphorylation (OXPHOS)‐dependent proliferation. A targeted bacterial nanovesicle delivering copper‐depleting agents effectively reduces tumor copper levels, inhibits OXPHOS‐dependent tumor growth, and ...

Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome is a TH17-like and Treg immune disease [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a very severe syndrome leading to respiratory failure and subsequent mortality. Sepsis is one of the leading causes of ARDS. Thus, extracellular bacteria play an important role in the pathophysiology of ARDS. Overactivated neutrophils are the major effector cells in ARDS.

DNA‐PKcs‐Driven YAP1 Phosphorylation and Nuclear Translocation: a Key Regulator of Ferroptosis in Hyperglycemia‐Induced Cardiac Dysfunction in Type 1 Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the context of chronic hyperglycemia, a DDR is initiated, leading to the pathological activation of DNA‐PKcs in the diabetic heart. This activated DNA‐PKcs directly interacts with and phosphorylates YAP1 at Thr226, thereby increasing the nuclear expression of YAP1.

Verteporfin‐Mediated In Situ Nanovaccine Based on Local Conventional‐Dose Hypofractionated Radiotherapy Enhances Antitumor and Immunomodulatory Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here gelatinase‐responsive methoxypolyethyleneglycol–PVGLIG–polycaprolactone (mPEG–PVGLIG–PCL) nanoparticles’ loading verteporfin (N@VP) is developed, enhancing radiotherapy via X‐ray‐triggered singlet oxygen generation. Combined with 2 Gy (gray, a radiation dose unit) irradiation, N@VP achieves antitumor efficacy comparable to 8 Gy, and also promotes ...

Electrochemical kinetics and dimensional considerations at the nanoscale [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
It is shown that the consideration of the density of states variation in nanoscale electrochemical systems yields modulations in the rate constant and concomitant electrical currents. The proposed models extend the utility of Marcus-Hush-Chidsey (MHC) kinetics to a larger class of materials and could be used as a test of dimensional character.

Gene duplication and divergence produce divergent MHC genotypes without disassortative mating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Genes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) exhibit heterozygote advantage in immune defence, which in turn can select for MHC-disassortative mate choice. However, many species lack this expected pattern of MHC-disassortative mating.

The insulator factor CTCF controls MHC class II gene expression and is required for the formation of long-distance chromatin interactions [PDF]

open access: yes
Knockdown of the insulator factor CCCTC binding factor (CTCF), which binds XL9, an intergenic element located between HLA-DRB1 and HLA-DQA1, was found to diminish expression of these genes.

PPY‐Induced iCAFs Cultivate an Immunosuppressive Microenvironment in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma features abundant stromal components that hinder therapy efficacy. Single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis combined with experiments identified PPY, a gastrointestinal hormone, as a novel inducer of immunosuppressive iCAFs. Mechanistic studies revealed that PPY activates the non‐canonical NF‐κB pathway via EGFR.

Single‐Cell Atlas Reveals Tumorigenic Profiles and Immune Dynamics of Adrenal Incidentalomas

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals cellular heterogeneity in adrenal incidentalomas, identifying distinct tumor cell populations. Clusterin is recognized as a biomarker for adrenocortical tumors, correlating with established markers. MYCN‐positive clusters in pheochromocytomas indicated poorer survival.
