Prognostic Markers in Meningioma: Effectiveness of FISH‐Assessed CDKN2A/B Homozygous Deletion and Limits of Surrogate p16/MTAP Immunohistochemistry in Predicting Disease‐Specific Survival

open access: yesNeuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, Volume 52, Issue 5, October 2026.
A cohort of 92 meningiomas was reclassified according to CNS WHO 2021. Diagnostic concordance between different CDKN2A/B homozygous deletion cutoffs assessed by FISH and MTAP/p16 immunohistochemistry was evaluated, with the aim to improve meningioma diagnostic workflow and prognostic estimation.

The cold case of state transition 7 (stt7) mutants of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, solved by whole‐genome sequencing

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 1, Page 145-162, October 2026.
Long‐read whole‐genome sequencing revealed extensive chromosomal rearrangements and aneuploidy in a widely used Chlamydomonas reinhardtii stt7‐1 mutant. The STT7 gene (shown in red) was found to be split between two rearranged chromosomes, providing a molecular explanation for the long‐standing failure of this mutant in genetic crosses.

Disulfiram Attenuates Adenine‐Induced Renal Fibrosis by Modulating Inflammatory and Immunometabolic Responses

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 18, 30 September 2026.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized by persistent inflammation that drives progressive renal injury and fibrosis. In this study, we demonstrate that disulfiram markedly attenuates kidney injury and fibrosis in adenine‐induced nephropathy by suppressing innate immune responses and reducing DNA damage and cellular senescence.

Blood‐based proteomic profiling reveals context‐dependent changes in BCL2‐associated signaling during taxane therapy in breast cancer patients

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 9, Page 1801-1812, September 2026.
Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, Volume 7, Issue 3, Page 87-98, September 2026.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Cigarette Smoke‐Induced Alveolar Macrophage Senescence via GEM/SIRT3‐Mediated Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 50, 7 September 2026.
Cigarette smoke accelerates the aging of immune cells in the lung. By combining human single‐cell sequencing, cell culture, and mouse models, the authors show that the protein GEM drives mitochondrial damage and senescence in alveolar macrophages by suppressing SIRT3.
