Alterations of p16(INK4A) and p15(INK4B) genes in gastric carcinomas

open access: yes, 1997
BACKGROUND. It has been suggested that cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CDKIs), including p16 and p15, are tumor suppressor genes. Alterations of CDKIs have been found in most types of cancer.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Aberrations of the p14(ARF) and p16(INK4a) genes in renal cell carcinomas.

open access: yes, 2001
The INK4a / ARF locus on chromosome 9p21, which encodes two distinct genes, p14(ARF) and p16(INK4a), is frequently altered in human neoplasms. To investigate the potential roles of p14(ARF) and p16(INK4a) genes in human renal cell carcinomas (RCCs), we ...

Mesenchymal Stromal Cell‐Mediated Intercellular Communication: Mapping the Interactome for Skeletal Muscle Homeostasis and Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liu et al. define a systems‐level interactome of fibroadipogenic progenitor (FAP)‐mediated signaling in skeletal muscle by integrating single‐cell transcriptomics with FAP depletion‐based perturbation analysis. Functional interrogation using a conditioned media bioassay links predicted signaling to multicellular outcomes, establishing a framework to ...

The Role of p16, p21, p27, p53 and Ki-67 Expression in the Differential Diagnosis of Cutaneous Squamous Cell Carcinomas and Keratoacanthomas: An Immunohistochemical Study

open access: yesBalkan Medical Journal, 2016
Background: Distinguishing squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) from keratoacanthoma (KA) by histopathological features may not be sufficient for a differential diagnosis, as KAs may, in some cases, imitate well-differentiated SCCs.

Frequent Hypermethylation of p16 and p15 Genes in Multiple Myeloma [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1997
Abstract Both p16 and p15, encoded by the genes located on chromosome 9p21, are inhibitors of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK4/6) and the upstream regulators of Rb function. In hematopoietic malignancies, deletion of p16/p15 locus has been shown to be highly specific to lymphoid, and more particularly from B-lineage malignancies except ...

GATA4‐Driven Transcription of HtrA1 Promotes Cellular Senescence in Ménière's Disease and Age‐Related Audio‐Vestibular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the HDAC6/GATA4/HtrA1 axis as a critical driver of cellular senescence in the inner ear. GATA4 nuclear translocation, facilitated by HDAC6 downregulation, transcriptionally activates HtrA1, promoting hair cell senescence, SASP, and audio‐vestibular dysfunction in models of Ménière's disease and age‐related audio‐vestibular ...

P16INK4A—More Than a Senescence Marker

open access: yesLife, 2022
Aging is a biological feature that is characterized by gradual degeneration of function in cells, tissues, organs, or an intact organism due to the accumulation of environmental factors and stresses with time.

Humanized and Charge‐Optimized CSPG4‐Specific CAR‐T Cells show Enhanced Efficacy against Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CSPG4 is identified as a high‐value, stemness‐associated target in HPV‐negative HNSCC. By implementing rational biophysical engineering, a humanized and charge‐optimized CAR is developed to overcome tonic signaling‐induced exhaustion. This strategy induces a profound transcriptomic shift toward a rejuvenated, stem‐like memory state, significantly ...

Mutations of the p16 gene in gliomas.

open access: yesOncogene, 1996
In the present study we investigated the frequency of p16 gene exon 2 mutations in 35 malignant gliomas, using either direct sequencing of the PCR products or cloning into the pCRII vector and sequencing of the cloned PCR products. No mutations were detected during direct sequencing of the PCR products.
