Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Estimation of Genetic Parameters of Survival Against Vibrio harveyi in Leopard Coral Grouper (Plectropomus leopardus)

open access: yesProgress in Fishery Sciences
The leopard coral grouper (Plectropomus leopardus) belongs to the family Epinephelinae, and genus Plectropomus. Vibrio harveyi is the main pathogen that causes "rot disease" in leopard coral grouper, which is a major threat to the sustainable development

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Genetic Variation of Growth and Disease Resistance Traits in Open-Pollinated Provenance-Progeny Trials of Falcataria moluccana Growing on Two Rust-Affected Sites at Age-18 months

open access: yesJurnal Manajemen Hutan Tropika, 2017
Two Falcataria moluccana (sengon) progeny trials, incorporating 100 different families from 12 provenances growing on two highly gall rust (Uromycladium falcatarium) prone sites were used to estimate genetic parameters and potentially identify rust ...

Parameter Selection in Genetic Algorithms

open access: yesJournal of Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, 2004
In this study, we provide a new taxonomy of parameters of genetic algorithms (GA), structural and numerical parameters, and analyze the effect of numerical parameters on the performance of GA based simulation optimization applications with experimental design techniques. Appropriate levels of each parameter are proposed for a particular problem domain.

Estimating quantitative genetic parameters in haplodiploid organisms [PDF]

open access: yesHeredity, 2000
Haplodiploid organisms (diploid females and haploid males) are genetically distinct in that they have asymmetrical genetic segregation, gene dosage compensation in the haploid male, maternal effects, and a general propensity to inbreed. Taking these characteristics into account, we demonstrate how conventional experimental designs and statistics ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
