Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Host range and population structure of Xanthomonas citri pv. mangiferaeindicae : [P4-55] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
#Xanthomonas citri# pv. #mangiferaeindicae# (Xcm) is a bacterium attacking two plant species of the anacardiaceae family : mango (#Mangifera indica#) and pepper tree (#Schinus terebinthifolius#), which is a pest frequently found bordering mango orchards.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Quantitative genetic tools for brood stock improvement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Success in aquaculture and fisheries management depends on viable concept, sound management and animals with high genetic potential. In farm animals and plants application of genetic principles and genetiC tools lead to increased production in accordance

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Inducible promoters of bacterial microcompartments improve the CRISPR/Cas9 tools for efficient metabolic engineering of Clostridium ljungdahlii

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology
Clostridium ljungdahlii, as a model acetogen strain, represents a novel platform for biotechnological production for CO2 fixation. The genome of C. ljungdahlii harbors two gene loci associated with glycyl radical enzyme-associated microcompartments (GRMs)

OPTIMIZING PROJECT TIME-COST-QUALITY BY USING GENETIC ALGORITHMS [PDF]

open access: yes
Project management causes the problem of efficient resource assignment, activity, time constraints and relationships between activities. Traditional scheduling methods like CPM and PERT are incomplete tools to use in practice because they do not consider

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
