Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Sibutramine high-doses effects in cafeteria diet-induced obese rats
Obesity, defined as excessive fat accumulation that impairs health, is a global challenge with high mortality rates. Sibutramine, a centrally acting anorectic, was widely used in obesity treatment due to its effects on appetite control and weight loss ...

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Emergence of Salmonella enterica carrying blaOXA-181 carbapenemase gene, Italy, 2021 to 2024
Between 2021 and 2024, we detected carbapenemase gene blaOXA-181 in 16 of 11,398 Salmonella enterica (SE) isolates: 10 SE 1,4,[5],12:i:-, three Bovismorbificans, two London and one Rissen from pigs, humans, pork meat and wild roe deer. The gene was first

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Biallelic GGGCC repeat expansion leading to NAXE-related mitochondrial encephalopathy
Repeat expansions cause at least 50 hereditary disorders, including Friedreich ataxia and other diseases known to cause mitochondrial dysfunction. We identified a patient with NAXE-related mitochondrial encephalopathy and novel biallelic GGGCC repeat ...

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.
