Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

B mu G@Sbase-a microbial gene expression and comparative genomic database [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The reducing cost of high-throughput functional genomic technologies is creating a deluge of high volume, complex data, placing the burden on bioinformatics resources and tool development. The Bacterial Microarray Group at St George's (BμG@S) has been at

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

PolyTB: a genomic variation map for Mycobacterium tuberculosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is the second major cause of death from an infectious disease worldwide. Recent advances in DNA sequencing are leading to the ability to generate whole genome information in clinical isolates ...

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Integrative Bayesian Network Analysis of Genomic Data

open access: yes, 2014
Rapid development of genome-wide profiling technologies has made it possible to conduct integrative analysis on genomic data from multiple platforms. In this study, we develop a novel integrative Bayesian network approach to investigate the relationships

Genomic Analysis of Laccaria Genomes at High Altitude

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
The Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP) harbors extreme environmental conditions (e.g., low temperature, intense UV radiation, and hypoxia), presenting unique challenges for biological adaptation. However, the genetic mechanisms underlying the adaptation of macrofungi to high-altitude environments on the QTP remain poorly understood.

Lymphoblastoid cell lines as a model to understand amyotrophic lateral sclerosis disease mechanisms

open access: yesDisease Models & Mechanisms, 2018
In the past, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has been considered a ‘neurocentric’ disease; however, new evidence suggests that it should instead be looked at from a ‘multisystemic’ or ‘non-neurocentric’ point of view.
