Anticancer effects of ginsenoside Rg3 (Review)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Medicine, 2017
Cancer is a life-threatening disease with an alarmingly increased annual mortality rate globally. Although various therapies are employed for cancer, the final effect is not satisfactory. Chemotherapy is currently the most commonly used treatment option.

Ginsenoside RG3 inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition of gallbladder cancer cells through PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway [PDF]

open access: yesWaike lilun yu shijian
Objective To explore the specific mechanism of Ginsenoside Rg3 inhibiting gallbladder cancer (GBC)cells. Methods Cell counting kit-8(CCK-8) assay was used to examine the effect of Ginsenoside Rg3 on the viability of GBC cells.

Generation and Characterization of Monoclonal Antibody to Ginsenoside Rg3

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2009
While studying the mechanism of ginsenoside Rg3 (G-Rg3) on tumor inhibition, we produced monoclonal antibody to G-Rg3 for more specific investigation. We immunized Balb/c mice to G-Rg3 conjugated bovine serum albumin (BSA) by intraperitoneal injection and hybridized splenocytes from those immunized mice and myeloma cells.

Stereospecificity of Ginsenoside Rg3 Action on Ion Channels

open access: yesMolecules and Cells, 2004
Ginsenosides, active ingredients of Panax ginseng, exist as stereoisomers depending on the position of the hydroxyl group on carbon-20; i.e. 20(R)-ginsenoside and 20(S)-ginsenoside are epimers. We have shown previously that the mixture of 20(R)- and 20(S)-ginsenosides regulates ion channel activity.

Ginsenoside RG3 Synergizes With STING Agonist to Reverse Cisplatin Resistance in Gastric Cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
This study investigates the synergistic inhibitory effects of combining the stimulator of interferon genes (STING) agonist cyclic diadenylate monophosphate (c-di-AMP) and ginsenoside RG3 on cisplatin (DDP)-resistant gastric cancer (GC) cells.

Ginsenoside Rg3 promotes regression from hepatic fibrosis through reducing inflammation-mediated autophagy signaling pathway

open access: yes, 2020
Inflammation and autophagy occur during hepatic fibrosis development caused by various pathogens, and effectively curbing of autophage may delay the occurrence of hepatic fibrosis.

Evaluation of the gastroprotective effects of 20 (S)-ginsenoside Rg3 on gastric ulcer models in mice

open access: yesJournal of Ginseng Research, 2019
Background: Gastric ulcer (GU) is a common gastrointestinal disease that can be induced by many factors. Finding an effective treatment method that contains fewer side effects is important.

Ginsenoside Rg3 for Chemotherapy-Induced Myelosuppression: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2020
Patients with advanced cancer often undergo myelosuppression after receiving chemotherapy. However, severe myelosuppression results in treatment delay, and some can even be life-threatening.
