Mechanical stiffness orchestrates distinct regulation of MRTFs and YAP/TAZ transcriptional cofactors in hepatocytes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
MRTFs and YAP/TAZ proteins, or mechanosensitive transcriptional cofactors (MRTcoF), regulate common genes associated with cellular contractility and immune cell infiltration. Their differential regulation in response to stiffness is linked to changes in hepatocyte's aspect ratio. MRTFB does not undergo nuclear translocation under these conditions. This

Quantitative Comparative Proteomics Reveal Biomarkers for Dengue Disease Severity

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Dengue fever (DF) could develop into dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) with increased mortality rate. Since the clinical characteristics and pathogen are same in DF and DHF.

Cellular and molecular outcomes of glutamine supplementation in the brain of succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase‐deficient mice

open access: yesJIMD Reports, 2020
Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase deficiency (SSADHD) manifests with low levels of glutamine in the brain, suggesting that central glutamine deficiency contributes to pathogenesis.

Comparative Genome Analysis of Two Heterotrophic Nitrifying Pseudomonas putida Strains Isolated from Freshwater Shrimp Ponds in Soc Trang Province

open access: yesFermentation, 2022
Nitrogen compounds, especially ammonia, are widely produced in aquaculture systems during cultivation. Ammonia has been investigated as a model compound for use by heterotrophic nitrifying bacteria.

Genome‐wide association analysis identifies a GLUL haplotype for familial hepatitis B virus‐related hepatocellular carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 2017
BACKGROUNDA family history of liver cancer increases the risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by 2‐fold to 10‐fold among patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV). Previous genome‐wide association studies have identified many possible susceptible loci associated with sporadic HBV‐related HCC.

High‐throughput multispecies quantitative polymerase chain reaction assays to study the effects of acute thermal stress in three species of Acipenser sturgeon

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Fishes experience thermal stress in their natural environment that can be caused by natural or anthropogenic factors and can directly affect their physiology. In this study, we developed a multispecies OpenArray™ qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction) ‘chip’ to measure the effects of acute thermal stress on the mRNA response of ...

X‐Linked USP11 Drives Depression‐Like Behaviors by Stabilizing CK2α and Disrupting Mitochondrial Function

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study reveals that USP11 mediates depressive‐like behaviors and mitochondrial dysfunction in the prefrontal cortex. Mechanistically, USP11 directly binds to and deubiquitinates CK2α, thereby stabilizing its protein level and promoting mitochondrial impairment.

Electromagnetism in nonleptonic weak interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We construct a low-energy effective field theory that permits the complete treatment of isospin-breaking effects in nonleptonic weak interactions to next-to-leading order. To this end, we enlarge the chiral Lagrangian describing strong and Delta S=1 weak

Aspartame Increases the Risk of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Aspartame (APM) is a widely used artificial sweetener associated with various health concerns, including potential links to diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and an increased risk of cancer. A comprehensive approach incorporating data mining, machine learning, network toxicology, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and clinical sample ...

Using TMAs (Tissue MicroArrays) to Evaluate GLS, GLUL, and CAV 1 Immunostaining in Breast Cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
poster abstractApproximately 1 out of 8 women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime. Breast cancer has a greater potential of being cured if diagnosed in the earlier phases.
