Combating VEGFA‐siRNA‐Induced Metabolic Reprogramming via Glucose Utilization Deprivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An ionizable lipid nanoparticle co‐delivers VEGFA siRNA and glucose oxidase to tumors to counteract VEGFA knockdown‐induced, glutamine‐driven metabolic compensation. Enzymatic glucose consumption reverses the adaptive pathways and restores metabolism toward baseline, thereby sensitizing tumors to therapy.

Control of cleft glutamate concentration and glutamate spill-out by perisynaptic glia: uptake and diffusion barriers.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Most glutamatergic synapses in the mammalian central nervous system are covered by thin astroglial processes that exert a dual action on synaptically released glutamate: they form physical barriers that oppose diffusion and they carry specific ...

Icariin Enhances the Enzymatic Activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase to Augment Akkermansia Abundance in Gut Microbiota for Improved PD‐1 Blockade Efficacy in Tumor Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with

Dopamine D2 antagonist-induced striatal Nur77 expression requires activation of mGlu5 receptors by cortical afferents

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2012
Dopamine D2 receptor antagonists modulate gene transcription in the striatum. However, the molecular mechanism underlying this effect remains elusive. Here we used the expression of Nur77, a transcription factor of the orphan nuclear receptor family, as ...

Glutamate Receptor Abnormalities in Schizophrenia: Implications for Innovative Treatments

open access: yesBiomolecules & Therapeutics, 2012
Schizophrenia is a devastating psychiatric illness that afflicts 1% of the population worldwide, resulting in substantial impact to patients, their families, and health care delivery systems.

Synchrotron XRF Imaging Reveals Manganese Accumulation in the Golgi and Post‐Synapses of Neurons and Enhanced Uptake in Astrocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Despite widespread exposure, the mechanisms of manganese neurotoxicity remain poorly understood. Using correlative cryogenic fluorescence and synchrotron X‐ray fluorescence imaging techniques, we show that the Golgi apparatus is the primary accumulation site for manganese in both neurons and astrocytes, and that manganese targets the neuronal ...

Antinociceptive actions of honokiol and magnolol on glutamatergic and inflammatory pain

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Science, 2009
The antinociceptive effects of honokiol and magnolol, two major bioactive constituents of the bark of Magnolia officinalis, were investigated on animal paw licking responses and thermal hyperalgesia induced by glutamate receptor agonists including ...

Disruption of Treg Homeostasis in Rheumatoid Arthritis via Ferroptosis‐Mediated ETC Collapse and TXK‐STAT3/PLCγ1 Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rheumatoid arthritis, synovial Tregs accumulate but are functionally impaired due to iron overload‐induced ferroptosis. This triggers mitochondrial dysfunction and TXK tyrosine kinase‐mediated signaling, leading to Treg destabilization and inflammation.

The Selective Metabotropic Glutamate 2/3 Receptor Agonist MGS0028 Reverses Isolation Rearing–Induced Abnormal Behaviors in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2012
Isolation-induced abnormal behaviors are useful animal models for assessing potential anti-psychotic drugs. This study examined the effect of MGS0028, a selective metabotropic glutamate 2/3 receptor agonist, on abnormal behaviors such as hyperactivity ...

Mild Focal Cooling Decouples Dendrites to Reconfigure Cortical Output

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mild cooling of the cortical surface selectively modulates apical dendritic excitability, plasticity, and somato‐dendritic coupling, while uncoupling these effects from basal dendrites, and reshapes apical‐driven responses in barrel cortex during whisker touch.
