Phase Diagram of Glycerol Monostearate and Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate
Crystal Growth & Design, 2015The phase behavior of two solid emulsifiers glycerol monostearate (GMS) and sodium stearoyl lactylate (SSL) was examined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), small and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS and WAXS), and ultra small angle X-ray scattering (USAXS).

Effects of glycerin and glycerol monostearate on performance of thermoplastic starch
Journal of Materials Science, 2001The effects of glycerin and glycerol monostearate (GMS) on a variety of properties of anhydrous wheat starch are explored by means of DSC, TGA, as well as mechanical, rheological and moisture sorption assessment. It is found that, as glycerin content (GC) increases, both melting point and degradation temperature decrease, and the range of the ...

Glycerol Monostearates in High-Fat Ice Cream
Dairy industryAbstract. Ice cream is a complex food product stabilized by emulsifiers that maintain fat-water equilibrium. Mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids are the most popular industrial ice-cream emulsifiers. Monoglyceride emulsifiers contain glycerol monostearates, whose properties are similar to stabilizers and emulsifiers. This article describes the effect

Enhancing Reaction Rate of Transesterification of Glycerol Monostearate and Methanol by CO2
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2007The effect of CO2 as a green additive on the reaction rate of transesterification of glycerol monostearate with methanol was studied at 333.15 and 343.15 K up to 10.5 MPa. It was demonstrated that addition of CO2 in the reaction system could increase the reaction rate significantly.

Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2018
Successful applications of solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) rely on their physicochemical properties which are mainly governed by their comprising materials (e.g., lipids, emulsifiers) and preparation methods. We have prepared biocompatible solid lipid nanoparticles with glycerol monostearate as lipid and varying combinations of bile salts sodium ...

On the supermolecular structure and metastability of glycerol monostearate-amylose complex
Carbohydrate Polymers, 1990Abstract Calorimetry of glycerol monostearate-amylose complexes reveals the presence of at least two thermally distinct metastable forms, which thus implies a definite connection between thermal properties and the supermolecular organization of these materials.

Solute effects on the thermal stability of glycerol monostearate-amylose complex superstructures.
Carbohydrate Research, 1990Abstract Thermally induced order-disorder transitions of two distinct structural forms of the glycerol monostearate-amylose complex (form I, Tm 99° and form II, Tm 117°) have been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry in various solvent environments.

Polyethylene (PE) is used widely as an electrical insulating material. However, the deterioration of its insulating ability is accelerated by exposure to a humid environment. To prevent the influence of water molecules, mixing 2,3-dihydroxypropyl octadecanoate-known as glycerol monostearate (GMS)-into PE has been proposed.
