Concise Synthesis of Glycerophospholipids

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2022
Glycerophospholipids are major components of cellular membranes and provide important signaling molecules. Besides shaping membrane properties, some bind to specific receptors to activate biological pathways. Untangling the roles of individual glycerophospholipids requires clearly defined molecular species, a challenge that can be best addressed ...

Glycerophospholipids

2023
Glycerophospholipids are defined as phosphatidyl esters attached to the terminal carbon of glycerol in the triglyceride structure. Glycerophospholipids are the most abundant phospholipids, which form essential structural components of cellular or vesicle membranes.

A general synthesis of glycerophospholipids

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1970
Abstract The direct phosphorylation of appropriate alcohols with phosphatidic acids proceeds in excellent yields (60–90%) if triisopropylbenzenesulphonyl chloride is used as a condensing agent. This is a general and convenient route for the synthesis of glycerophospholipids.
