Diagnostic Consequences of Cytomegalovirus Glycoprotein B Polymorphisms [PDF]
ABSTRACT Failure of a cytomegalovirus (CMV) real-time PCR assay targeting glycoprotein B (gB) was investigated. A multiplex assay targeting gB and immediate-early 2 (IE2) genes showed discordant results (gB negative and IE positive or a >10-fold-higher viral load with IE primers) in saliva from 14.6% of CMV-infected newborns.

The SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein interacts with MAO-B and impairs mitochondrial energetics
SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with both acute and post-acute neurological symptoms. Emerging evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 can alter mitochondrial metabolism, suggesting that changes in brain metabolism may contribute to the development of acute

Drosophila canopy b is a cochaperone of glycoprotein 93 [PDF]
Drosophila gp93 was identified as the ortholog of the mammalian endoplasmic reticulum-resident chaperone gp96. gp93 was found capable of rescuing gp96 client proteins, such as Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and integrins, in a gp96-deficient murine cell line.

Cloning and sequencing gB, gD, and gM genes to perform the genetic variability of bovine herpesvirus-1 from Indonesia [PDF]
Aim: Previous research has shown that bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) in Indonesia was closely related to subtype-1 based on glycoprotein D genes. This study aimed to analyze the genetic variability of the BHV-1 isolated from the recent case in Indonesia ...

Reply to “The Brain, Amphotericin B, and P-Glycoprotein” [PDF]
We thank David A. Stevens et al. ([1][1]) for [the letter][2] suggesting different results regarding the effect of P-glycoprotein on the brain concentration of amphotericin B (AMB) by P-glycoprotein knockout mice.

The rapid spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its variants has created a catastrophic impact worldwide. Several variants have emerged, including B.1.351 (Beta), B.1.1.28/triple mutant (P.1), B.1.1.7 (Alpha), and B.1.429 (Epsilon). We performed comparative

Oligomerization of herpes simplex virus glycoprotein B [PDF]
Glycoprotein B (gB) specified by herpes simplex virus can be extracted from virions or infected cells in the form of detergent-stable, heat-dissociable oligomers. The composition of the oligomers and requirements for their formation were investigated.

Intrauterine Cytomegalovirus Infection and Glycoprotein B Genotypes [PDF]
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) strains display polymorphisms for the gene encoding glycoprotein B (gB; gpUL55). Recent data suggest that the gB genotype may influence the outcome of acquired CMV infections. To determine whether the gB genotype also contributes to the outcome of intrauterine infection, CMV strains were studied from 56 infants with culture ...
