Scaffold materials from glycosylated and PEGylated bovine serum albumin

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research - Part A, 2015
AbstractBovine serum albumin has been PEGylated and glycosylated to create mimetic materials for the extracellular matrix (ECM) with potential tissue engineering applications. Different surfaces for cell adhesion were achieved by crosslinking the initial albumin product and forming either a coating or a sponge‐like three‐dimensional morphology to mimic

Fluorescence Spectroscopic Studies on the Complexation of Antidiabetic Drugs with Glycosylated Serum Albumin

Journal of Applied Spectroscopy, 2013
Glycosylation decreases the association constant values and hence the binding affinity of human serum albumin (HSA) for the antidiabetic drugs under study. The percentage of HAS-bound drug at physiological temperature was only about 21–38 % as compared to 46–74 % for non-glycosylated HSA.

Endocytosis of native and glycosylated bovine serum albumin by duct cells of the rat parotid gland

Cell and Tissue Research, 1989
The ability of duct cells of the rat parotid gland to internalize bovine serum albumin (BSA) and several glycosylated albumins (glucosamide, galactosamide, fucosamide, lactosyl, p-aminophenyl-N-acetyl-D-glucosamide, p-aminophenyl-N-acetyl-D-mannopyranoside, p-aminophenyl-N-acetyl-D-galactosamide) was investigated.

Glycosylated Serum Albumin: An Intermediate Index of Diabetic Control

Diabetes Care, 1983
Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1) is widely used as an index of glycemic control in diabetic patients. However, due to the long survival time of erythrocytes (120 days), it remains elevated for several weeks after improved control. Other plasma proteins are similarly glycosylated, and as glycosylated serum albumin (GSA) has a shorter half-life (20 days ...

Effects of glycosylation of hypoglycaemic drug binding to serum albumin

Biopharmaceutics & Drug Disposition, 1997
The binding properties of hypoglycaemic drugs to glycosylated human serum albumin (G-HSA) were investigated using a fluorescence quenching method. Displacement patterns between tolbutamide and Sudlow's-site-specific drugs to G-HSA were also investigated.

Influence of glycosylation on the drug binding of human serum albumin

Biomedical Chromatography, 1998
The influence of glycosylation on the drug binding of human serum albumin (HSA) was studied using HSA containing different amounts and degrees of glycosylated HSA. The drugs used were furosemide, naproxen, procaine, phenylbutazone, salicylic acid, sulphamethoxazole, tolbutamide and warfarin.

Nonenzymatic glycosylation of human serum albumin: Fluorescence and chemiluminescence behavior

Journal of Fluorescence, 1993
In the present study the progress of the cross-linking reaction between glyceraldehyde (GCA) and human serum albumin (HSA) was followed by monitoring the development of new absorption bands characteristic of the cross-linked product. Generation of electronically excited species (EES) during horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-catalyzed oxidation of ...

Modulation of Clearance of Recombinant Serum Albumin by Either Glycosylation or Truncation

Thrombosis Research, 2000
Albumin is an abundant non-glycosylated plasma protein with a slow clearance profile. It has been employed as a fusion partner in efforts to slow the clearance of small antithrombotic proteins like hirudin. In the present study, the in vivo clearance of recombinant rabbit serum albumin (rRSA), of mutant rRSAs containing consensus sequences for N-linked

Determination of a glycosyl subunit of human serum albumin by concanavalin A-Sepharose

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1983
A new procedure has been devised for the isolation of a glycosyl subunit of albumin from human serum. After the selective removal from serum proteins with affinity chromatography on Blue-Sepharose CL-6B, albumin was applied to a column of concanavalin-A Sepharose which resolved the protein in two subunits with different specific colour activity for ...
