TPOTENCY OF PITUITARY GONADOTROPINS
Endocrinology, 1940THERE ARE 5 different extracts of the anterior lobe of the pituitary in common use which are purported to contain the gonadotropic principle of that gland: prephysin (Chappel), gynantrin (G. D. Searle &Co.), gonadotropic factor (Ayerst, McKenna, and Harrison), ambinon (Roche), prepituitary-G (Italian Drugs Importing Co., Inc.) D'Amour and D'Amour1 have

Familial Monotropic Pituitary Gonadotropin Insufficiency
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1968Abstract Three siblings, 2 females and 1 male, had eunuchoidism with selective insufficiency of pituitary gonadotropin. A fourth sibling, a male, probably was affected, but death precluded definitive study. A maternal half sister was normal. There were no distinctive somatic features except absence of secondary sex characteristics and relatively long ...

EXTRACTION AND PURIFICATION OF HUMAN PITUITARY GONADOTROPIN*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1958The development of methods for the extraction of gonadotropin from the urine of men and postmenopausal women by the kaolin-acetone procedure is detailed. Further purification of the crude gonadotropic material was accomplished by alcohol-salt fractionation, which results in a yield of 4 mg. of solids per liter of original urine.

Estimation of Pituitary Gonadotropins in Human Plasma
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1965A rapid and simple method for estimation of gonadotropic activity in human plasma is described. The chemical procedure involves precipitation of plasma proteins with 5 ml of absolute ethanol per ml of plasma. The precipitate is then extracted twice with 2 ml of 10% ammonium acetate in 70% ethanol per ml of plasma used. Gonadotropic activity is measured

Synergism Between Pituitary Extracts and Chorionic Gonadotropins
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1941CLINICAL EXPERIENCE with chorionic gonadotropins for the purpose of stimulating ovarian function and correcting menstrual disorders has failed to satisfy the expectation raised by earlier reports. The reports of results since the introduction of more potent preparations containing 500 to 1,000 I.U. per cc.

Pituitary gonadotropins during long-term enovid therapy
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 19664 patients receiving the oral contraceptive Enovid 5 mg tablets Day 5-24 of the treatment cycle were studied for 7 cycles after therapy for a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 31 (mean duration of 25) consecutive months of therapy. In addition 1 patient was studied for a control cycle before receiving medication and a second cycle while on medication ...

A Chorionic Gonadotropin-Secreting Human Pituitary Cell*
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1991Recent data from our laboratory show that hCG is secreted in a pulsatile manner in parallel with human LH (hLH) in nonpregnant normal humans. Furthermore, GnRH stimulates hCG and hLH release. Using a monoclonal antibody specific for the beta-chain of hCG and not reacting with hLH, we have identified a heretofore unknown cell type in human pituitaries ...

Gonadotropin secreting pituitary microadenoma.
Le Journal medical libanais. The Lebanese medical journal, 1993FSH and LH secreting pituitary adenomas may not be as rare as has been previously thought. Women in their reproductive years with a normal estrogenic state and hypergonadotropic amenorrhea should be suspected to harbor a pituitary microadenoma secreting gonadotropins. A computerized tomogram of the pituitary confirms the diagnosis.

Comparative biochemistry of pituitary gonadotropins
General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1969Abstract Except for some limited reports by Fontaine and Gerard and by Clemens et al. on the partial purification of gonadotropic or gonadal hydration factors present in the pituitary of the carp Cyprinus carpio , almost all experiments designed to purify and characterize pituitary gonadotropins have been carried out utilizing pituitaries from ...

Laboratory Tests for Pituitary Gonadotropins
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1969The human pituitary gland elaborates two gonadotropins, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). We shall present the currently employed laboratory methods of measuring these hormones and discuss those biological and physicochemical characteristics necessary to the understanding of the assay systems used.
