Granulysin expression and the interplay of granulysin and perforin at the maternal–fetal interface

Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2013
Granulysin (GNLY) is a cytolytic/apoptotic molecule highly expressed in immune cells, particularly NK cells, at the maternal-fetal interface. The primary function of GNLY is to carry out lysis or apoptosis induction in target cells, tumor cells or cells infected by intracellular pathogens.

Possible role of granulysin in pathogenesis of osteoarthritis

Medical Hypotheses, 2015
Increased presence of immune mediator and cytotoxic/apoptotic molecule granulysin was noticed in different tissues during pathological processes with the domination of Th1 over Th2 mediated immunity. Beside granulysin expression in T and NKT cells, activated NK cells are thought to be the major source of chemotactic 15 kDa and cytotoxic 9 kDa ...

Evaluation of Granulysin Level in Active Vitiligo

QJM: An International Journal of Medicine, 2023
Abstract Background Vitiligo is an acquired, a progressive, multifactorial, depigmenting disorder characterized by the appearance of circumscribed white macules in the skin due to chronic, progressive loss of functional melanocytes in the epidermis ...

Assessment of seminal granulysin in infertile men with varicocele

Andrologia, 2018
Varicocele has a common association with male infertility, but its exact role is still debated. Apoptosis has been suggested as one of the mechanisms of varicocele-associated infertility. Granulysin is a molecule that plays a role in apoptosis with no previous study about its role in male infertility.

Granulysin in pulmonary veno-occlusive disease

European Respiratory Journal, 2013
Background: Pulmonary Veno-Occlusive Disease (PVOD) shares many similarities with precapillary Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), from risk factors to clinical or hemodynamic presentation. The need to establish a correct diagnosis of PVOD is justified by the worse prognosis of these patients and by their ...

Granulysin expression in tubal ectopic pregnancy

2009
The aim of our study was to investigate the expression and distribution of granulysin (GNY) at the mucosal tissue in tubal ectopic pregnancy (EP). Granulysin belongs to the family of saposin-like lipid binding proteins and is found in human natural killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic activated T lymphocytes (CTL).
