Phenotypic plasticity in a novel set of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor‐adapted non‐small cell lung cancer cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Phenotypic plasticity in a newly established set of EGFR inhibitor‐adapted NSCLC cell lines during adaptation and in established cell lines. Here, we introduce novel sublines of the EGFR‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines HCC827 and HCC4006 adapted to the EGFR kinase inhibitors gefitinib (HCC827rGEFI2μm, HCC4006rGEFI1μm), erlotinib ...

Co‐overexpression of the caloric restriction‐induced mitochondrial factors PGC‐1α and MIPEP upregulates Phospho1 expression in adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caloric restriction that extends lifespan induces the expression of PGC‐1α and MIPEP in white adipose tissue. In this study, co‐overexpression of Pgc‐1α and Mipep upregulated the gene expression of PHOSPHO1. These findings provide new insights into mitochondria‐related mechanisms underlying the effects of caloric restriction in adipocytes.

Role of Growth Hormone Therapy in Metabolic-Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesIndian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism
Multiple observation studies and meta-analysis have linked growth hormone (GH) deficiency with metabolic-dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

CD9‐association with PIP2 areas is regulated by a CD9 salt bridge

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tetraspanin CD9 has an intracellular salt bridge. If CD9 opens, open‐CD9 moves from PIP2‐rich areas to regions populated by its interaction partner EWI‐2. Hence, the state of the salt bridge regulates the distribution of CD9 and by this CD9‐EWI‐2 complex formation.

Two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5::CBFA2T3

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PAX5::CBFA2T3 (PAX5‐C) is a fusion protein of the B‐cell transcription factor, PAX5, and is found in B‐cell ALL. We propose a putative model of two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5‐C. There are two ways of repression by PAX5‐C: DNA‐binding‐dependent way and HDAC‐dependent way, with either being sufficient for the repression. HDAC

Isolated Growth Hormone Deficiency

open access: yesEndocrines
Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is the most frequent pituitary hormone deficiency in childhood, with an incidence of 1 in 4000–10,000 live births. GHD can be congenital (genetic or due to hypothalamic/pituitary abnormalities) or acquired and can be ...

Key role for inhibins in effective T cell activation, migration and Th17 differentiation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activins/inhibins modulate immune responses. Here, we show that inhibins can be produced very early after T cell activation and can act in an autocrine way, favoring Th1 versus Th17 differentiation and CCL19/CCL21 mediated migration. Recombinant inhibin A can restore the Th1/Th17 balance, highlighting the role of inhibins as key regulators of T cell ...

Comparison of growth hormone stimulation tests in prepubertal children with short stature according to response to growth hormone replacement [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Pediatric Endocrinology & Metabolism
Purpose Growth hormone (GH) stimulation tests are essential tools for diagnosing GH deficiency (GHD). We aimed to compare L-dopa, insulin, and arginine-induced stimulation tests based on response to GH replacement.

Growth in growth hormone insensitivity

open access: yesTrends in Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1994
Primary GH insensitivity due to GH receptor deficiency (GHRD) provides a model for studying the discrete effects of severe IGF-I deficiency on growth and body composition. Growth failure in utero is doubtful, but postpartum growth proceeds at rates that result in adult statures 4-12 standard deviations (SDs) below the normal mean.

Transcriptional regulation of neuropeptide receptors underlies context‐dependent adaptation in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Under environmental changes, the expression level of neuropeptide (NP) and neuropeptide receptor (NPR) genes changes to confer context‐dependent adaptation to the model organism Drosophila melanogaster. Through finding more regulatory elements in the NPR genes in comparison with their ligands (NPs), we found that NPR‐biased transcriptional regulation ...
