Flavin Biosynthesis Enhances Extracellular Electron Transfer in Bioengineered Escherichia coli
Microbial electronics are promising for energy, sensing, environmental, and synthesis applications. E. coli are engineered with extracellular electron transfer (EET) pathways from a microbe that naturally produces current to enable bioelectronics based on E. coli.

Integrin α8‐Mediated Pericyte Morphogenesis Controls Blood‐Brain Barrier Integrity
This study highlights that ITGA8 impacts pericyte morphology and function, both crucial for BBB integrity, via RhoA/ROCK signaling, thus influencing TGF‐β1 activation through cytoskeletal tension and ECM interactions. Notably, in post‐ischemic recovery models, ITGA8 deficiency exacerbates vascular dysfunction by impairing pericyte‐mediated BBB ...

Regulation of polarised growth in fungi [PDF]
Polarised growth in fungi occurs through the delivery of secretory vesicles along tracks formed by cytoskeletal elements to specific sites on the cell surface where they dock with a multiprotein structure called the exocyst before fusing with the ...

This study investigates a schematic overview of the mechanistic pathways. The relationship between myopia and DR has long been of clinical interest. In diabetic mice, Nna1 expression is downregulated, whereas in diabetic mice with FDM, Nna1 expression is upregulated–particularly in Müller cells–accompanied by decreased vascular endothelial growth ...

Persistent activation of transducin by bleached rhodopsin in salamander rods. [PDF]
The hydrolysis-resistant GTP analogue GTP-gamma-S was introduced into rods isolated from the retina of the salamander Ambystoma tigrinum to study the origin of the persistent excitation induced by intense bleaching illumination.

Mobile messenger RNAs (mRNAs) can travel long distances, serving as systemic signals that participate in plant growth and stress acclimation. This work determines that PHR proteins mediate the Pi starvation response (PSR)‐specific long‐distance transport of mRNAs and that these PSR‐specific mobile mRNAs represent noncoding transcripts in recipient ...

Green tea polyphenols reduce body weight in rats by modulating obesity-related genes. [PDF]
Beneficial effects of green tea polyphenols (GTP) against obesity have been reported, however, the mechanism of this protection is not clear. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify GTP-targeted genes in obesity using the high-fat-diet ...

Morphine activates the excitatory cingulate cortex–intermediate rostrocaudal division of zona incerta (Cg‐ZIm) pathway to drive hyperlocomotion in mice. Inhibiting the Cg‐ZIm pathway attenuates both acute and chronic morphine‐induced hyperlocomotion, while its activation mimics morphine's motor effects.

Ectopic A-lattice seams destabilize microtubules [PDF]
Natural microtubules typically include one A-lattice seam within an otherwise helically symmetric B-lattice tube. It is currently unclear how A-lattice seams influence microtubule dynamic instability.

Proposed model of orally administered onion mitochondria (O‐Mit) uptake by lung macrophages and fuse with macrophage mitochondria (M‐Mit). This fusion reprograms the metabolism of dysfunctional M‐Mit in lipopolysaccharide‐induced murine acute lung injury by modulating dynamin‐related protein 1 (DRP1) phosphorylation and cardiolipin peroxidation ...
