Investigation of antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant activities in novel poly(DEAEMA‐co‐EMA)/polyindole composites

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of prepared poly(DEAEMA‐co‐EMA)/PIN composities and 3D AFM image. Abstract In the current study, in the first stage, amphiphilic poly(2‐diethylamino ethylmethacrylate‐co‐ethyl methacrylate) [Poly(DEAEMA‐co‐EMA)] was synthesized from the 2‐diethylamino ethylmethacrylate (DEAEMA) and the ethyl methacrylate (EMA) using the free ...

Polymers in direct air capture: a mini review

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
Polymer‐based materials have emerged as key components in direct air capture (DAC) systems, offering scalable, cost‐effective solutions as active sorbents or structural supports. Abstract The urgent need to mitigate climate change has intensified interest in direct air capture (DAC) technology, which targets extracting carbon dioxide (CO2) directly ...

Biguanide Hydroiodide as Efficient, Metal‐Free Catalyst for Synthesis of Cyclic Carbonates From CO2 and Epoxides Under Mild Conditions and Its Application to Synthesis of Polymer Bearing Cyclic Carbonate Moiety

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
We developed that novel use of biguanides as catalysts for the efficient synthesis of five‐membered cyclic carbonates (5CCs) from CO2 and epoxides. Among biguanides and their salts, biguanide hydroiodide showed efficient catalysis for the 5CC formation under mild conditions (25°C–60°C and 1 atm of CO2).

Integrated Photo‐Rechargeable Batteries: Configurations, Design Principles, and Energy Loss Mechanisms

open access: yesSmall Science, EarlyView.
This review explores integrated photo‐rechargeable battery architectures that unify solar energy conversion with electrochemical storage. By analyzing two‐terminal, three‐terminal, and four‐terminal designs, this study reveals how the working mechanisms, materials, and energy loss pathways govern efficiency and propose design strategies. These insights

Cationic Polyelectrolyte Adsorption onto Anionic Nanoparticles Analyzed with Frequency‐Domain Scanning Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A small‐circle scanning fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (sFCS) technique is presented using acousto‐optical laser scanning and frequency‐domain fitting. Validated with simulations and experiments, sFCS investigates cationic polyelectrolyte adsorption onto anionic nanoparticles, revealing stable complexes and size increases with polymer mass ...

Clustering Zwitterionic Amino Acids at the Upper Rim of Cone Calix[4]arene Triggers the Selective Recognition of Gram‐Negative Bacterial Envelope

open access: yesSmall Structures, EarlyView.
By Saturation Transfer Difference Nuclear Magnetic Resonance studies, calix[4]arenes bearing zwitterionic amino acids are identified as selective ligands for Gram‐negatives over Gram‐positives or mycobacteria, suggesting them as promising ligands for the detection and targeting of this class of bacteria.

Polyaniline as a dual flame retardant and electrostatic dissipative additive in polyethylene nanocomposites

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 339-355, March 2025.
Effecft of co‐doping polyaniline with phosphoric acid and phytic acid on the heat release rate of polyethylene. Abstract Polyolefins, such as polyethylene (PE), are highly flammable and electrically insulative, limiting their applicability. The study explored the flame‐retardancy and electrical conductivity of PE/polyaniline (PE/PANI) nanocomposites ...

Hydrochlorothiazide combined with exercise training attenuates blood pressure variability and renal dysfunctions in an experimental model of hypertension and ovarian hormone deprivation

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2025.
Hydrochlorothiazide plus combined exercise training provides superior benefits compared to medication alone in female spontaneously hypertensive rats subjected to ovarian hormone deprivation. This combined approach significantly reduced blood pressure variability, improved inflammatory and redox profiles, and provided functional and morphological ...
