Assessment of Risk Factors Related to Environmental Factors and Herd Management for Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Bovine Parainfluenza Virus‐3 Infections Frequently Observed in Beef and Dairy Cattle

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
In this study, molecular diagnosis of BRSV and BPIV3 factors was aimed and risk factors were tried to be determined by considering ‘environmental factors’, ‘herd management factors’ and ‘infection‐related factors.’ RT‐PCR technique was used for the molecular detection of pathogens and multivariate and univariate statistical analyses were performed ...

Water‐Triggered Direct Air Capture by Strong Organic Bases

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 11, June 2, 2025.
Peralkylated guanidines capture CO₂ directly from moist air and release concentrated CO₂ upon water co‐evaporation with a smalltemperature‐swing of 45 °C. This water‐triggered capture and release mechanism enables a high working capacity of nearly one equivalent CO2 per base, offering a promising approach for direct air capture.

Access to Highly Functional and Polymerizable Carbonate‐Drug Conjugates

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 11, June 2, 2025.
A generic protocol for drug‐functionalized and carbon dioxide‐based six‐membered cyclic carbonates has been developed. These functional carbonates can be designed for effective ring‐opening polymerization to forge polycarbonates that support a controllable amount of a given drug and additional functionality, opening up complementary strategies for ...

Application of Carbon Quantum Dots in Food Business: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yeseFood, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2025.
This approach is straightforward and practical in comparison to previous approaches because it speeds up the synthesis of CQDs while maintaining a high quantum yield. By heating the poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG‐200) for 2–10 min. However, there are several downsides of this technique, such as the nonuniform particle sizes of carbon quantum dots that ...

The microbiologist's guide to metaproteomics

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 4, Issue 3, June 2025.
Metaproteomics within the multi‐omics framework provides a comprehensive view of microbial systems by identifying proteins, quantifying their levels, detecting posttranslational modifications (PTMs), mapping protein–protein interactions (PPIs), and localizing proteins.

A single buried cysteine acts as a hydrophobic stabilizer of a folding intermediate and transition state in the MATH domain of SPOP

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Cysteine is a highly conserved amino acid with diverse roles in protein function. Whilst its role in the formation of disulfide bridges is well characterized, the contribution of isolated cysteines in protein folding is by and large unexplored. Here we investigate the impact of cysteine residues on the folding pathway of the MATH domain in the

CXXC5 is a ubiquitinated protein and is degraded by the ubiquitin‐proteasome pathway

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract CXXC5, as a member of the zinc‐finger CXXC family proteins, interacts with unmodified CpG dinucleotides to modulate the expression of genes involved in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and death in physiology and pathophysiology. Various signaling pathways, including mitogenic 17β‐estradiol (E2), contribute to the expression and ...

Using a stable protein scaffold to display peptides that bind to alpha‐synuclein fibrils

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 34, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Amyloid fibrils are ordered aggregates that are a pathological hallmark of many neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. The process of amyloid formation involves a complex cascade by which soluble monomeric protein converts to insoluble, ordered aggregates (amyloid fibrils).

In Vitro Structure–Activity Relationship Stability Study of Antisense Oligonucleotide Therapeutics Using Biological Matrices and Nucleases

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 13, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT The primary degradation pathway for antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) involves endonuclease and exonuclease‐mediated breakdown. The effect of various chemical modifications on the stability of oligonucleotides has not been systematically investigated.

N‐ to C‐Peptide Synthesis, Arguably the Future for Sustainable Production

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 31, Issue 6, June 2025.
The advent of epimerization‐free methods for coupling in N‐ to C‐direction synthesis offers improved atom economy for sustainable peptide synthesis. ABSTRACT A revolution in peptide production arrived from the innovation of carboxylate to amine C‐ to N‐direction solid‐phase synthesis.
