Expanding the Chemical Space of Cyclic Polyphthalaldehyde via Post‐Functionalization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a post‐functionalization approach to achieve water‐soluble cyclic polyphthalaldehyde (cPPA) polymers via click chemistry. ABSTRACT Cyclic polyphthalaldehydes (cPPAs) are hydrophobic cyclic polymers with stimuli‐responsive depolymerization property. The introduction of hydrophilic functionalities to cPPAs is challenging due to

Dendritic Guanidines as Efficient Analogues of Cell Penetrating Peptides

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2010
The widespread application of cell penetrating agents to clinical therapeutics and imaging agents relies on the ability to prepare them on a large scale and to readily conjugate them to their cargos. Dendritic analogues of cell penetrating peptides, with

Photochemistry of N-(selenoalkyl)-phthalimides. Formation of N, Se-heterocyclic systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A variety of N-(selenomethyl)alkyl-phthalimides (alkyl = -(CH2)n-; n = 2-5, 1a, b, d, e) and N-(selenobenzyl)propyl phthalimide (1c) were synthesized and their photochemistry was studied at λ = 300 nm.

Stage‐Specific Roles of Deep Eutectic Solvents in Recycling of Spent Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) offer tunable acidity, redox, and coordination properties for selective recycling of spent lithium‐ion battery cathodes. Through co‐dissolution, single‐ and two‐metal separations, DESs enable sustainable recovery of critical metals for closed‐loop regeneration of battery‐grade materials, advancing a circular economy for ...

Adapting the Interrelated Two-way Clustering method for Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) Modeling of a Diverse Set of Chemical Compounds

open access: yes, 2013
Interrelated Two-way Clustering (ITC) is an unsupervised clustering method developed to divide samples into two groups in gene expression data obtained through microarrays, selecting important genes simultaneously in the process.

Structure-guided design of a high affinity ligand for a riboswitch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We have designed structure-based ligands for the guanidine-II riboswitch that bind with enhanced affinity, exploiting the twin binding sites created by loop–loop interaction.

Comparison of Pre‐ and Postoperative Gut Microbiota Diversity in Patients With Rectal Cancer Undergoing Stoma Creation and Closure

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
We investigated the impact of temporary stoma creation and closure on gut microbiota diversity in rectal cancer patients. 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that microbial diversity significantly decreased postoperatively in the stoma group but remained stable in non‐stoma patients.

Photoinduced Ring-Opening Polymerization of N-Carboxyanhydrides for the Preparation of Cross-Linked Polypeptide Gels. [PDF]

open access: yesAngew Chem Int Ed Engl
We employ a photochemical approach for ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of α‐amino acid N‐carboxyanhydride (NCA) monomers to prepare covalently cross‐linked synthetic polypeptide gels using a photobase and light, which offers significant advantages in the synthesis of polypeptides and holds great potential for applications requiring spatial and ...

circNR3C2 promotes chondrogenic differentiation and cartilage repair of human adipose‐derived stem cells via the hsa‐miR‐647/SOX9 pathway

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
The hypothesis diagram illustrates the function and mechanism of circNR3C2: circNR3C2 overexpression can up‐regulate COL2, Aggrecan and SOX9 expression, and regulate chondrogenic differentiation of hADSCs by targeting hsa‐miR‐647. Abstract Background Human adipose‐derived stem cells (hADSCs) are seed cells with application prospects in cartilage repair.

Some taste substances are direct activators of G-proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Amphiphilic substances may stimulate cellular events through direct activation of G-proteins. The present experiments indicate that several amphiphilic sweeteners and the bitter tastant, quinine, activate transducin and Gi/Go-proteins.
