Abstract The pygmy sperm whale (Kogia breviceps) possesses an exocrine gland associated with its false gill slit pigmentation pattern. The cervical gill slit gland is a compound tubuloalveolar gland that produces a holocrine secretion and displays maturational changes in size and secretory histology. While the morphology of the cervical gill slit gland

This study characterizes a multidrug‐resistant and strong biofilm‐forming Enterococcus faecalis strain obtained from a shrimp sample in Bangladesh. ABSTRACT Enterococcus faecalis is known for its ability to form strong biofilms and its role as an opportunistic pathogen. In this study, we screened and characterized a multidrug‐resistant (MDR) and strong

Characterizing large scale base composition structures of genomes [PDF]
Intermittent density fluctuations of nucleotide molecules (adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine) along DNA sequences are studied in the framework of a hierarchical structure (HS) model originally proposed for the study of fully developed turbulence [She and Leque, Phys. Rev. Lett. 72}, 336 (1994)].

Stability analysis of a signaling circuit with dual species of GTPase switches [PDF]
GTPases are molecular switches that regulate a wide range of cellular processes, such as organelle biogenesis, position, shape, and signal transduction. These enzymes operate by toggling between an active ("ON") guanosine triphosphate (GTP)-bound state and an inactive ("OFF") guanosine diphosphate (GDP)-bound state; such a toggle is regulated by GEFs ...

Aims Shunting (hypermethylating) thiopurine metabolism, characterized by excessive 6‐MMPR production and (sub)therapeutic 6‐TGN levels, poses a significant challenge in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This study evaluates the metabolic outcomes of switching to low‐dose thiopurine with allopurinol (LDTA) or thioguanine (TG) in IBD ...

Correlation Between GC-content and Palindromes in Randomly Generated Sequences and Viral Genomes [PDF]
GC-content, the ratio of guanine and cytosine bases in an entire nucleotide sequence, and palindromic sequences are unique for every organism due to genomic evolution. The goals of our research was to establish a correlation between GC-content and palindromic densities in wild-type viral and randomly-generated genomes.

Methods for Controlling Small GTPase Activity
This concept highlights recent and emerging methods for controlling small GTPase activity, encompassing both small‐molecule‐based approaches and protein engineering strategies. The use of these approaches to advance the understanding of small GTPase function, current limitations, and future outlook is discussed.
