Dataset of the AAC2 conformations in the c-, intermediate- and m-states obtained from free-energy simulations

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
The data reported herein are related to the article entitled: “The switching mechanism of the mitochondrial ADP/ATP carrier explored by free-energy landscapes” (Pietropaolo et al., 2016) [1].We report the coordinates of the ADP/ATP carrier (AAC2) in the ...

Spreadsheet-Based Program for the Analysis of DNA Methylation

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2001
Methylation of DNA in CpG dense regions of gene promoters (CpG islands) is important for transcriptional inactivation of selective genes in normal and neoplastic cells.

Distinct forms of the ß subunit of GTP-binding regulatory proteins identified by molecular cloning [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Two distinct β subunits of guanine nucleotide-binding regulatory proteins have been identified by cDNA cloning and are referred to as β 1 and β 2 subunits. The bovine transducin β subunit (β 1) has been cloned previously.

A truncation mutant of adenomatous polyposis coli impairs apical cell extrusion through elevated epithelial tissue tension

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
Abstract Tissue tension encompasses the mechanical forces exerted on solid tissues within animal bodies, originating from various sources such as cellular contractility, interactions with neighboring cells and the extracellular matrix. Emerging evidence indicates that an imbalance in such forces can influence structural organization, homeostasis, and ...

A simple stochastic model to describe the evolution over time of core genome SNP GC content in prokaryotes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Genomes in living organisms consist of the nucleotides adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C) and thymine (T). All prokaryotes have genomes consisting of double-stranded DNA, where the A's and G's (purines) of one strand bind respectively to the T's and C's (pyrimidines) of the other. As such, the number of A's on one strand nearly equals the number of

Phosphorylation at the Helm: Kinase‐Mediated Regulation of Primary Cilia Assembly and Disassembly

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The primary cilium serves as an antenna of most vertebrate cells and is important for conveying cues from several signaling pathways into appropriate cellular responses during development and homeostasis. Cilia assembly and disassembly processes are thought to be strictly controlled; however, the precise nature of molecular events underlying ...

ARC Expands the DAAM1 Microexon‐Mediated Actin–RHOA/ROCK Interplay

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Actin cytoskeleton and its dynamics play a crucial role in synaptic function, influencing dendritic spines' structural and functional plasticity. Recent findings unveiled the significance of alternative splicing of a neural‐specific microexon in DAAM1 in modulating actin's role in synaptic processes.

Small‐Molecule KRAS Inhibitors by Tyrosine Covalent Bond Formation

open access: yesChemMedChem, EarlyView.
Small molecules form a covalent bond at KRAS tyrosine and inhibit its activation by guanine exchange factors in biochemical assays and mammalian cells. The development of the KRAS G12C inhibitor sotorasib is a major advance toward drugging KRAS. However, the G12C mutation is only found in about 10% of KRAS‐driven tumors. KRAS possesses several tyrosine

Spin transport and polarization properties of manganese-doped dual-guanine molecule [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We study the spin transport and polarization properties of manganese-doped dual-guanine molecules connected to graphene leads using non-equilibrium Green's function method. It is shown that a manganese doped dual-guanine molecule is a biological semiconductor and behaves as a prefect spin filter.
