Developmental, Dietary, and Geographical Impacts on Gut Microbiota of Red Swamp Crayfish (Procambarus clarkii)

open access: yes, 2020
Red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) breeding is an important economic mainstay in Hubei province, China. However, information on the gut microbiota of the red swamp crayfish is limited. To address this issue, the effect of developmental stage, diet (

New use of an old drug: mechanism of oseltamivir phosphate inhibiting liver cancer through regulation of lipophagy via NEU1

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
BackgroundNeuraminidase-1 (NEU1) is an enzyme that breaks down sialic acids on glycoproteins and glycolipids. Aberrant expression of NEU1 has been linked to the progression of numerous malignancies, including liver cancer. Oseltamivir phosphate (OP) is a

A Microbial Lipid‐ATP Synthase Axis Fuels NK Cell Antitumor Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study focuses on the mechanism by which gut microbiota‐derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) regulate NK cell antitumor activity. B. intestinalis is identified to decrease extra‐intestinal tumor growth via its OMVs enriched in sphingosine (SP).

Gut Microbiota during Dietary Restrictions: New Insights in Non-Communicable Diseases

open access: yes, 2020
In recent decades, there has been a growing interest in dietary restrictions for their promising effects on longevity and health span. Indeed, these strategies are supposed to delay the onset and burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as obesity,

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

Exploring the Association between Gut Microbiota and Inflammatory Skin Diseases: A Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Analysis

open access: yes, 2023
Emerging research underscores the substantial link between gut flora and various inflammatory skin diseases. We hypothesize that there exists a complex gut–skin axis, possibly affecting the progression of conditions such as eczema, acne, psoriasis,

β‐Elemene Rescues Radiation‐Induced Enteritis by Orchestrating a Host‐Microbiome Circuit That Fuels Epigenetic DNA Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

Streptomyces sp. BI87 from human gut: potent anticancer activities and divergence from known Streptomyces lineages

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Cancer is among the deadliest diseases with few truly curative therapies. Recent studies have shown that the human intestinal microbiota contains bacteria that exhibit potent suppressive effects on cancer or coordinate anticancer functions with the ...
