Phylogenetic Assessment of Gazella bennettii: A Genetic Framework for the Conservation of the Endangered Jebeer in Iran

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2025.
Our molecular genetic analyses provide resolution for the controversial status of jebeer and chinkara, providing a basis for future assessments by the IUCN and national authorities in Iran. Furthermore, these data enable us to make informed decisions regarding crucial areas of jebeer conservation.

Analysis of gene expression profiles in two spinal cord injury models

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research, 2022
Objectives To analyze the changes of gene expression at different timepoints after spinal cord injury (SCI) with tenth segment thoracic injury. Methods Two SCI models, the complete paraplegia (H) and Allen’s strike (D) methods were applied to induce SCI ...

Cryo‐EM structures of the zinc transporters ZnT3 and ZnT4 provide insights into their transport mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, Volume 599, Issue 1, Page 41-52, January 2025.
Zinc transporters (ZnTs) function as H+/Zn2+ antiporters, facilitating zinc efflux from the cytosol to the extracellular space or intracellular vesicles, playing a crucial role in maintaining zinc homeostasis. Here, using cryo‐electron microscopy, we characterized the structures of ZnT3 (inward‐facing) and ZnT4 (outward‐facing), providing insights into

Positive selection within the Schizophrenia-associated GABA(A) receptor beta(2) gene. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2007
The gamma-aminobutyric acid type-A (GABA(A)) receptor plays a major role in inhibitory neurotransmissions. Intronic SNPs and haplotypes in GABRB2, the gene for GABA(A) receptor beta(2) subunit, are associated with schizophrenia and correlated with the ...

Carrion in Bomas: Multiple Observations of Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) Scavenging Events and Potential Causes in Managed Populations

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 1, January 2025.
Very few incidents of cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus) scavenging have been reported, with no explanation given as to why it may occur. In this paper, we provide three observations of cheetahs scavenging and suggest a common factor between them: all adult individuals involved passed through bomas during relocation processes and were provisioned with carrion

Conservation in gene encoding Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigen Rv2660 and a high predicted population coverage of H56 multistage vaccine in South Africa

open access: yesInfection, Genetics and Evolution, 2017
H56/AERAS-456+IC31 (H56), composed of two early secretion proteins, Ag85B and ESAT-6, and a latency associated protein, Rv2660, and the IC31 Intercell adjuvant, is a new fusion subunit vaccine candidate designed to induce immunity against both new infection and reactivation of latent tuberculosis infection.

A small RNA encoded in the Rv2660c locus of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is induced during starvation and infection.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Enhanced transcription of the Rv2660c locus in response to starvation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv encouraged addition of the predicted Rv2660c protein to an improved vaccine formulation.

My path to citrin deficiency

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 48, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Citrin belongs to the SLC25 transport protein family found mostly in inner mitochondrial membranes. The family prototype, the ADP–ATP carrier, delivers ATP made inside mitochondria to the cellular cytoplasm and returns ADP to the mitochondrion for resynthesis of ATP.
