Dynamic Fluorescence Modulation via Light‐Driven Competitive Protonation
A two‐component molecular system demonstrates reversible, light‐driven fluorescence write–erase cycling and thermal imaging. Illumination of a merocyanine photoacid transfers a proton to a highly efficient fluorescent pyridinium dye, switching its emission color; thermal relaxation reverses the process in the dark.

Emerging biomedical engineering strategies for hair follicle regeneration
Hair follicle undergoes cyclical regeneration that relies on the spatiotemporal coordination of epithelial-mesenchymal interactions and multiple signaling pathways. However, hair follicle homeostasis is susceptible to disruption by various endogenous and

On wounding, scar formation in mammals arises causing no hair follicle regeneration, but it is unclear if scarring precludes regeneration. Here, the authors show that if Sonic hedgehog signaling is activated in the wound, an inductive dermal niche forms,

Fluorescent BODIPY‐conjugated thiosemicarbazone ligands and their Ga(III), In(III), and Fe(III) complexes, inspired by Triapine, are developed as theranostic agents. Multiphoton FLIM and confocal microscopy in cancer cells and zebrafish reveal real‐time uptake, mitochondrial localisation, and whilst spectroscopic assays indicated preserved complex ...

Lgr5-Positive Supporting Cells Generate New Hair Cells in the Postnatal Cochlea
The prevalence of hearing loss after damage to the mammalian cochlea has been thought to be due to a lack of spontaneous regeneration of hair cells, the primary receptor cells for sound.

Release and elementary mechanisms of nitric oxide in hair cells
The enzyme nitric oxide (NO) synthase, that produces the signaling molecule NO, has been identified in several cell types in the inner ear. However, it is unclear whether a measurable quantity of NO is released in the inner ear to confer specific ...

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

ABSTRACT The demand for off‐the‐shelf biocompatible bone substitutes has driven the development of numerous independent in vitro technologies to generate products resembling physiological tissues. Due to technical challenges and overly simplified cultivation approaches/niches, the end‐products are often uniformly shaped and inferior to native bone ...
